Laptop with FireWire to Connect MOTU 828 interface.

Hello guys.
I have a little problem, because I bought Motu 828 interface and I tried to connect it to my old laptop without FireWire with PCMCIA FireWire card. It doesn't work properly, so I decided to buy new one computer.

It must be laptop because I don't have enough space in my room for normal Computer. I was interested with MacBook, but only Pro have FireWire port. It costs nearly 1000 pounds, so it's a little bit too expensive to buy it only for FireWire.

My budget is about 500 Pounds, please guys recommend something for me to make work motu with it properly...

Buy an older macbook pro (2007-9) not a new/er one.

Yep, but model from mid 2010 costs about 450, it's ok for me. I just thought maby I need firewire 400 port, 800 should be good as well?

You just use a 9 pin to 6 pin Firewire cable.

My point was that you can get a decent MacBook Pro for £500 or less. Mine is a 2008 and it's good enough for what I need. Cost me around £500 from the OG owner in 2011.

I bought a 09 one for 300£, all problems gone I'm really happy and start making boombap classics.
