Hi guys.

Any Ensoniq specialists here?

Once I wrote about a strange issue I've been going through with my ensoniq eps 16+. The problem occurs just by itself only when the sampler is connected via midi with my mpc 3000. Suddenly it just goes crazy without any reason (it happens even during loading up the OS from the floppy - the sampler gets stuck and I can do sh*t with it).

When the MIDI cables are not connected between both samplers Ensoniq acts normally.

I'm including a video which shows its behaviour (and believe me - it's only one of many variations).

Any clue is worth gold for me, mates.

Sounds like a MIDI loop.

Maybe something to do with this...

7) MIDI Out

Sends out MIDI information generated by the EPS-16 PLUS'S sequencer to other instruments and computers. Also retransmits incoming MIDI data when TRANSMIT ON=INST CHAN (see Section 3 — Instruments and Banks for details).

Someone else was having a similar problem earlier...

Thank You, Simon.

That's right - that thread You've posted is mine. Back then I thought the problem is solved. Unfortunately not.

What's more: I've unplugged all midi cables from my Ensoniq, loaded up some samples and let it run for some time. The bad news is that it got stuck EVEN without midi cables plugged in.

What should be the assumption then? Is it gently telling me that its days are numbered? F*cked up motherboard or some power issues? Damn.

If it is the main board, theres one that can be had for a 100.00. You'll just need to use your own EPROMS off the old one.

Wish I had some better information to give :( But if you do go that route, I'll PM you the link
