I have never had a problem duplicating events time correct or not.

You just don't understand. :Sigh:

I think you are over complicating the solution. select the events an move them where you want them.

Then we are all complicating the solution ....please make a video to enlighten us all.

ok is the thread about copying only a few selected notes to another track or to extend the bar (i.e. from 4 bars to 8 ) ? or is it jus copying the whole track to another with the grid off? in either case wouldn't copy track feature be used for this? also jus to add i use the region edit function in the track mix srceen to copy and paste events thats mainly to extend my bars from 8 to 16 for example. i think that is what pete was talking bout copy a bar or two instead of a few notes… my 2 cents

copy and paste is kinda inconsistent with how it works. I think people have issue when copying events then pasting them into new tracks or tracks on new sequences. if your events arent quantized to the bar start, the events are pasted to wherever the play marker is situated. in any situation where the event occurs off the 'one' beat, the events will be pasted too soon. Obviously you can drag and drop the events after the fact, but that is totally inaccurate and if 95% of users expect it to work without needing further editing, it should be fixed. if this issue doesn't impact you, stay out of the thread! it's pretty simple! I don't jump in threads about patch phrases or whatever the **** pituchez complains about next saying it doesn't effect me

Yes, you are.
Puting an example to what fdodds said.
If you don't record quantized, lets say your snare is on the 2 and the 4, but not exactly, because you are human!, if you copy and paste the snare midi notes to another track the first midi note will be pasted to the place where the playhead is at...so if it is on the 1 first midi note will be exactly on the 1 and the second snare relatively pasted as where it was in your original track. Now, as it was not quantized you have to go to the step edit of your first track to see where the hell with decimals, was your first hit on and put them in the same place which defeats the copy paste workflow at all because you are better to put them by hand and done.
The workaround we were talking about, is that after you lay down your snares not quantized as explained above, you have to manually insert one extra midi note on the 1 make sure it is completely to the left of your sequencer and then copy pasta the notes, this way it will paste where the 1st note is and mantain the place for your unquantized snares. then of course you have to remove the extra midi note on the 1 because it is only a helper.
A soulution for this will be for akai to make the copy relative to where the playhead is.

From what I get from your example I am "not" missing anything as I initially thought.
When you are not using quantize your notes don't all have to be at the exact spot in each bar. Thats why you can just drag a duplicate of a snare an place them manually. If you have 8bars of snare that start on the 2 and 4 of each bar in an 8bar loop all you have to be concerned with is the first event in bar one, which starts on the 2. Select all the snares in the 8 bars control +drag(I always forget the exact key command) and place the first snare on the 2 of the empty bar which would be bar 9 in this case. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate because if you didn't use quantize for the first 8 bars then the snares occur at different times anyway. Yes they should make it paste correctly, like maschine does but its not a difficult workaround at all. This is why we have those big screens so we can move stuff around. It's even easier with Quantize on.

Well for me it HAS to be 100% accurate.
As if I want the 2 and 4 hi hat to be exactly where my 2 and 4 snares are. Or layering snares, kicks etc...
And I didn't hear anybody say the workaround was difficult, only it was a workaround, so if it would be better if they fixed it.

I was having the same issue. It drove me nuts, because I play the keys and didn't want to play the same loop a bunch of times. This is what I did.

Edit Menu, Sequence, Copy Event, and then dragged the last bar to where my loop ended and I wanted my loop to begin again which was.,,, Measure 5, Beat 1 and then pasted there as well. This moved all the event info and notes at one time. I hope this helps!
