DIY external SCSI SD card reader

Hi there !
I was wondering if I could make an external SCSI SD card reader for my MPC 2000XL (and also for a S2000 and S950 hopefully) with these items :

for power-supply and external casing.

I wonder if it's going to work and if it will be a hot-swap unit? Many thanks !

Yeah but before starting this, I need to know if that's the kind of gear that is inside the hot-swap card readers that you can find on ebay. Because I really want that feature. Otherwise I think that I will buy it from ebay. And cry for paying that much afterwards.

So? Anyone got any idea of what's in that kind of reader ?



I looked around the internet, found a couple of thread talking about that yamaha bridge to fit a CF reader in a MPC 60, but nothing about making a hot-swappable unit out of it...

this is one of the Microtech PCD-47B or PCD-50 readers

Yeah, thanks, but the question is : what are the components inside these things? Is there just an IDE card reader and a bridge or other things that makes it hot-swappable? I'll do some reserch based on the names though.

The PCD-50/60 are LUN based SCSI card reader which can cause problems, Maybe it will work with the S3200XL, but I did not find any info on that.

Cool, hope you figure it out.

If using IDE, the bridge and card reader have to support the ATAPI protocol, and be compatible with your MPC model, to operate as hot swap.

Even if bridge and card reader are ATAPI, you will not know until you try it, or until someone else has tried that exact combination, with the MPC you are using.
