thx brotha, had time this morning to get it up looks like you beat me.

im a little curious why u guys are stressing the bass rules? most tracks are either using a vst/sine. or just filtering the sample. how many people do you think grabs a pre written bass line out of a sample pack and puts it on our battle beats? If they can do this big ups to em. unless they build the beat and sample around the bass line it wouldn't fit 99 % of the time. i suppose ya'll are just trying to give some challenges.
i was actually leaning towards a NO SAMPLE week some time soon? see how many of us can make a beat with out samples.

thanks again for taking care of this weeks samples brotha.

, trying to get the kids to just use samples, and nothing but.
^^^^
I`ve used this approach from the beginning of my participation here and sometimes received friendly criticism for my "organic"" sample only" style.

The best samples are when it provides mostly all of the elements needed to make something at least halfway decent.

This is nice and weird!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!

We are back y`all !!!!!!!!

ahh. so no vst or bass instruments. bond.

Next week lets do no sample, but has to be a hip hop track. and the goal is to get it to sound like a sample base track.

Or we pick a couple sounds like, guitar, piano, bass, one shots. in different keys {not labeled} and only allowed to use posted one shots. I'm ready for a real challenge.

did you catch that 77 reference I'm talking about?

I love the idea of the beat battle, I always listen to samples posted and read the rules. I can never really participate because the beat is due friday, and new sample is posted on sunday. I know i'm new around here, but perhaps a suggestion of a saturday 8 pm deadline, and sunday used for voting? Just a suggestion. You guys might have it set up for particular veteran members which is deserved. Maybe more people would part take if at least half of the weekend they can use to make their track. Idk. Like I said, just a suggestion. I'm still gonna try to get in where I can though.

Well it doesn't have much to do with veteran members, cause there really isn't any classes here. If you noticed last week i had problems with soundcloud so i didn't get vote thread up till sat. there where like 5 votes. if we shorten the voting days, there are no votes. just having the two days only gets 12-15 votes.

and i imagine you work and may have a family to raise during week. and thats why your mentioning weekend days to work? Since my youngest is 3 now. {and a blast} he is a handful. making music with him in the house is next to impossible. its hard to say no to "dad, i love you. will you come play turtles with me?". i don't always get to enter my track. point being i believe there are a few of us here with very few time. we just make it work. i do at least cause this is my dream my way of expression artistically. so i make it happen.

if you like this, wait till you find the other weekly battles around online that you wanna join. you'll really think there is no time in hell.

5x, saad, Ma, Hiezenburg all put in mad battle work weekly if anyone could help you find time to make beats, these cats are the one to chat with.

just do a little daily. this is my route. then on the day i get a couple solid hours i usually change the whole track up and find a better way to beat it out.

Word. Good explanation. I gotcha. It is motivation to get something done. F*** it. I gotta pick myself up by my bootstraps. Can I still vote if I don't make a beat or don't get mine submitted in time? Also, I see that when submitting a beat it has to be uploaded to soundcloud and submitted to the mpc forum souncloud page or something like that. Sometimes I see people post it on the thread though. Is that allowed? Also, when I vote, do I just post in the thread? I've seen a few people do that too. Maybe I'll start something tonight and finish up Friday night before 12. I'm going to have to do like you said, A little daily. Even if I feel I don't want to submit it, the practice sharpens the sword.
