Graphite25 Midi Keyboard connect

Moin! I've just bought a Midi Keyboard, the Graphite 25.
I would like to connect it to my MPC 2000 so I can play basslines that I can directly record in a sequence.
Can someone explain it to me step for step?
In most videos I watched they used two midi cables - one from MIDI-Output of the MPC to the MIDI Input of the keyboard and one from the MIDI in of the MPC to the MIDI out of the keyboard.
But my keyboard only has one jack..
I'm absolutely clueless..

Plug a MIDI cable into the MIDI output of the keyboard, plug the other end of that cable into a MIDI input on the MPC.

You only need a MIDI cable going back out of the MPC and into the keyboard when it has an internal sound engine that you want to play from the MPC, or if you want to sync something in the keyboard to the MPC tempo, it is not needed for a MIDI controller keyboard.

Can you explain to me how I can put a sample from the MPC on the keyboard so I can play it on the keyboard in different pitches?
I have actually no idea how to technically connect them.. :-/

You don't put samples onto the keyboard, you load them onto MPC pads, the MPC pads are set to MIDI note numbers, and the keyboard triggers those samples with those MIDI note numbers.

An MPC2000 isn't the best sampler to play samples on at different pitches like that, it is more designed to play individual drum hits.

You can do it, by assigning a sample to a number of pads, and changing the tune setting on those pads, or by pitch shifting a sample to a number of different pitches, then loading the different pitched samples onto a number of different pads.

The default pad to MIDI note number layout is not chromatic either, so you might want to modify the default assignment to a chromatic layout before doing this, so that each MIDI note number is on a pad next to the next MIDI note number, sequentially. That just makes it easier to setup, and works in a similar way on the pads to on the keyboard when playing it.

Probably better off with an external MIDI sampler, that is more designed to do this, if you want to do much of it.

There is absolutely no sign that the MPC finds the keyboard.. No reaction when I open my program, no reaction in the midi menu.. nothing :-/

Which MPC do you have, MPC2000 or MPC2000XL?

Is it connected to a computer via USB?

Have you checked the keyboard manual to see if there is anything you have to do to enable the MIDI output?

Have you loaded samples into the MPC, onto pads, for the incoming MIDI note on/off messages to trigger?

I have the MPC 2000!
I got the keyboard working now, I also got a sample on a key, but I don't know how I got it there

My new problem is: When I have a sample with the 16-Levels button split on the pads - how can I assign these to the keys?

In the Program setup screen, each pad has a MIDI note number assigned to it, as well as a sample.

Those assignments specify which incoming MIDI note numbers from the keyboard trigger those MPC pads/samples.

I don't think that you can use 16 levels with incoming MIDI notes from a keyboard in the way you want to.
