Hi guys ty for reading i bought a used mpc 1000 online and when I drop it around a half inch onto my bed my mpc freezes- i found out cause I set it down like that and couldnt figure it out so obviously tried it again

Is there any mechanical parts inside the mpc that would make that normal? Does your mpc freeze like that too? I just want to know if i should return it before i cant if it isnt normal.. I can deal with it but if it doesnt happen to you guys... I dont want it getting worse is all I'm thinking about

Thanks :) I appreciate it

Could be the RAM, could be a loose connector/cable.

Open her up, make sure everything is connected well. If you have the RAM upgrade, take out the RAM completely and see if this fixes it. If it does, put the RAM back in (properly) - if the problem continues, get new RAM.

From a software POV, make sure you have the most current OS for your MPC. You could try an OS reset by holding down the ERASE button while booting up (it just reinitialises parameters etc), but it's most likely a hardware issue.

Far from normal, something possibly became loose during shipping after taking a knock. Take the advice given and don't forget to ground yourself before touching any components, or your could cause more problems.
