Beat too quiet - Make it louder!

Hello!

Just finished my daily beat and guess what? It's way too quiet.
The problem was my microkorg, the signal which comes into the MPC is really quite compared to listen directly to the korg output. So I had to turn all other samples and stuff down to match the volume of the korg bass... Is there something I do wrong? ( I got the MPC 500 and REC Gain was full. )

My other question is, if there is a way too turn the volume up above the 100% volume of the MPC afterwards without getting quality loss?

One more thought, could it have something to do with the treshhold parameter? I never changed it till now.

no threshold is something different. It should be possible to get a loud enough sample from the korg even if you don't fully turn up the recgain on the mpc. What cable do you use?

Did you try to normalise the sampled bassline inside the MPC?

i didn't normalized it, good idea. But normally it should be as loud as the korg output signal or not?

I think that could be the error source. I dont use midi, cause this would limit me to capture just one sound from the korg. ( If I did understand this right.)

So I just have one "normal" 6,53mm jack cable. The other is an Y-cable with 2 6,35mm plugs and one 3,5mm plug. I use only 1 of the 2 6,35mm plugs.
I think that could cause the volume loss?

this is the cable you need. Well ok you need two of them to sample in stereo. the plugs are 1/4" TS (tip, sleeve so it only have 1 ring)

Just going to put this snippet here: MIDI is NOT audio. You cannot sample using a MIDI cable. You can, though, control the MicroKorg from your MPC via MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface).

Also, I think RSP shared some valuable advice about Gain Staging.

Yeah thx, I read a bit about it. So basicly it means to capture the signal as loud as possible without disturbing the sound?
Maybe you can express it with easy words, the sites i googled weren't that good understandable for me..

Maybe I expressed it wrong. What I meant was that you can only sync one sound at a time over midi (and additional soundcables of course) from the microkorg. At least that's what I read months ago.

Can't you just turn up the REC level so the bass sound is just below peaking?

Am i missing something here? If your REC-knob is at max and microkorg at max and theres still a low volume recorded there indeed is a problem.
