Maybe you could test if a Zip disk formatted as FAT in your computer, with the OS files copied onto it from your computer, is recognised as a SCSI boot disk?

My PC is not running at the moment.

Never had a good reason to try a Jaz drive with the MPC2000 before but, I have now and can report that the Jaz drive is compatible with the 2k classic.
I also copied the files to the Jaz disk and managed to boot the machine successfully from it.
It is not necessary to disconnect the floppy to boot from a scsi drive (in case you thought that).
Can't offer any advice for you right now but willing to help if I can.
Please note, I do not have a scsi card in my PC.

Copied from the MPC floppy to the Jaz, and the Jaz formatted in the MPC?

OK
In the interests of being thorough, I searched out my SCSI to USB adapter and mounted the Jaz on the PC. Formatted to FAT and copied the files from the PC to the Jaz.
I then booted the MPC2000 from the Jaz disk without a problem (jeez it boots quick !!).

To the OP. What you are doing should be working.

Simon; Would changing the file names from upper to lower case have any effect?
Probably wrong but....I just feel I have come across this before

Wow, thats some big news. I will try and change the Files to lower case, as soon i am AT home!

Thx Pilchard.

if you mean the files need to be upper case, that would be shit. Cause they are... So if this wont work and if trying to Boot from a mpc formated zip via zip drive wont work, what am i supposed to Do? Maybe have to change the Mainboard ?
