Popping noise on Protools

Hope this is where I would post this issue at.

I just moved and set up my studio... Only thing is that now im getting a popping noise when playing back or making beats. It never did that before at the apt I was at before.

I do have most of my equipment connected to mainly one power strip. That is the only thing I know that is different.

could that be it? should I seperate wires to another power outlet?

any advise would be great.

Do you have any digital audio connections into your audio interface?

If not, make sure that your digital audio clock source is set to internal, in the Pro Tools Session Setup window, and try increasing your hardware buffer size setting, in the Setup/Playback Engine window.

I have my Mpc L/R connection connected to the 002 rack
I have my Mininova connected L/R on 002
002 Midi to mpc and
My Mic preamp connected to 002.

could that be it also?

If they are all analogue audio connections, and you don't need to synchronise any digital audio connections, then the Pro Tools digital audio clock source should be set to internal.

Are any of your connections into the 002 digital audio connections?

Having devices connected via a digital audio connection, and not synchronising the digital audio clocks of the digitally connected devices, can cause clicks and pops.

If it is not a digital audio clock sync problems, try increasing the hardware buffer size, in Setup/Playback Engine, having it set too low for the CPU to keep up with can cause clicks and pops.

Im going to see if the Syn is in Internal.

I know i use the midi beat clock for my mpc to rec with 002.

So it is set to INTERNAL. still doing the same.

Did you try increasing the hardware buffer size?

yep i put it higher it still does it but i noticed it does it much lesser. if i put it up higher it will add a delay to what im pushing on my mpc.

I dont get it? its never done this before.

Could it be due to all the connections are all in one power strip?

Simon went down the D/A route and that's what I thought at first.

Using different outlets might cause a ground loop but you might as well try.

It could be the new apt has a dirtier electricity supply or the circuit involves something like a refrigerator. Is it a new build or old build? If your interface works in standalone, try that. If you're still getting it after that I would suggest disconnecting everything and reconnecting one by one, testing the sound each time.

If after that you're still getting it I would look at hiring a power conditioner for a day and see if that helps.

If you could upload a WAV (very short is ok) with a few clicks and pops I'll have a look or you.
