Newbie Audio route question

I am about to pull the trigger on a MPC Ren, but I have one quick question. Is it possible, using separate audio interface with the Ren, to route the audio out of the master to an external compressor and then back in?
And if it is, is it a pain in the ass to do or can it all be done quickly from the controller?

well yes, threw your audio interface of course. and you could resample the processed signal back into your ren just threw your I/O

Route the sample out of output 3 and 4 on the back of the Ren into the compressor then back into the sampler inputs on the back of the Ren. You can do this with a single sample or a stereo mixdown from the controller.

Oh I see, so I'd have to go into to sample rec mode and re-sample.. I was looking for something more like abelton where you can route the audio out to external gear and then back in on the same track. I was trying to do it from the software in demo mode but I guess that's not a feature.

You can't use external inserts like that; either resample or use the Ren as interface in Ableton to apply the FX. Resampling is quicker, though.

Ok, thanks for responses! Maybe one day they'll add something like that to the mixer to make things easier for guys who like to insert a lot external gear. I guess that's one of the nice possibilities of having it software based.
