MPC 2000 Project machine

Hi guys.
I'm thinking to buy an mpc 2000 but it has problem with the screen, it has lines for about 20 minutes as the seller told me, and after that time the lines start to reduce. The price is 120€ and I don't know if it's worth it. The machine general is functional except the screen. I can test the machine myself, but it's in another city.
What do you think guys?
I know that the screen for the 2000 is almost impossible to get, so have you any other suggestions?

dont waste your time or gas driving there for a 2000 with a shit screen..... got for another model.

Screen is an easy (and cheap) fix. €120,- is cheap for a MPC2000 (classic? or XL?)

Ask te seller if it has the 8outputscard and/or the fx card in it.

I think it's definitely worth it.

I wouldn't say screens are an easy cheap fix.

If you can find one they cost almost as much as just buying another MPC with a working screen.

The only other option is modifying a screen from a DPS12.

I have search a lot of sites and I have found nothing.
It doesn't have the 8 outputs either the fx board.
If anyone sells a clean screen pm me for price please.

Look for an Akai DPS12. They can be had for little money. I bought mine for $85 just to have a backup screen. Still might just be worth finding yourself a 1000 or 2500 and being done with it.

I ended up getting a 2500. I would have done it sooner but I thought the case was made of plastic (to me the black paint made it look that way). But looks can be changeable :nod:

(This stuff only applys to the XL)
If you really want to do a 2000(XL) you could always take the screen out of its housing, then slot or drill breather holes in the housing. This would give you a bit better air flow.

I've done it, but haven't really used it much since having a 2500, but I can imagine it would make quite a bit of difference. It is an option.

Another one that did work for me for a pretty good while was a small desktop fan behind the 2000(XL)

Or find a way to vent the rear of the 2000, and add a fan maybe.

The way I see it, if you want a unit to last, rather then burning out parts, and replacing (that will only last for so long, and cost) you have to find ways to extend it's life span.

Not having confidence and not trying to learn or take the steps to get something done, means give up, and buy a different machine.

As you'll read a lot about on here, it's not IF your screen dies, but WHEN. Because it will eventually happen. So you either deal with that, and buy replacements, or you find a way to prolong the damage.
