1.8 release video

Great update, this is something they should have had from the beginning with the new chopping features. But it's great they have it now. This is one of the things that sold me with the Maschine, the duplicate pad option.. I couldn't chop any other way

I disagree with dude when he said best drum machine for chopping, maybe one the best.. that line was for newbies guess.

I was going to say that, but didn't. I compare the Software to the JJOS every time there is an update. I still use my 1000 when things get rough.

Chopping by pad press looks nice.

They have the 4000 there so maybe that tells us they're actually looking at what the other MPCs have. And yeah, JJ OS may have provided some ideas.
The offset value per pad is a godsend.

I must say that the last 2 major updates alone did show major progress. With that being said Im sure that most of what we request will be answered in one way or another. They seem to be having fun fulfilling whatever reasonable request we have.

I want to see what the REN is like just before the 2.0 update comes. To me that's allowing room to have most if not all standard features to be implemented along with with new features.

Regardless of what we think is standard, new or old features the REN is looking pretty FvK!N awesome right about now with the 1.8 about to drop. This makes me have high hopes (never holding my breath) for 1.9

As soon as 1.8 drops ,I'm buying another mpc studio , unless they show off a new controller at winter namm then I might hold off ,prob just buy a second hand one

What other hardware sampler has that realtime pad chopping? That was my holygrail of request. What is the Asr or the roland MV?

I know software samplers like Logic, Slicex etc has it.

Just seems that people never understood from day one that Akai was entering new ground.
They wanted the MPC software to be like Maschine at release but Maschine was already a mature product at that time.

If you compare Maschine 1.8 to MPC 1.8 Akai is ahead of the curve.
If you compare them at the same age point again Akai is ahead.

This doesn't take away from what NI has accomplished or what Maschine is capable of, just means Akai has done a lot in a small window.

HOWEVER, I still believe that if Akai does release a new standalone it will be something that they are regretting 2 years after it's release.

I have to wonder how many people touting the standalone MPC flag will actually buy one once they see the required price point?

You can drop a single point in realtime on the 4k.

1. Agreed 100%. I think in the case for both companies, when they released their 1.0, they both kinda missed the mark on what customers really wanted. I think they both thought people just wanted a current hardware MPC/MPC-style drum machine in the form of computer integrated hardware. But in reality what people wanted is Pro Tools in the form of a drum machine. So I think that's where the whole disconnect came in with both units. Akai's major problem was that at 1.0, it lacked many core hardware MPC features.


2. AMEN! I cannot wait to see how many of the guys screaming "hardware MPC" will actually buy it. A lot of them claim that the Ren at $1000-1200 is too expensive, and try to throw in that "too expensive for just a controller" shit to justify saying it's too expensive!
