1.8 release video

I've been happy with 1.7.
Had no idea 1.8 would bring all this.
I'm glad Akai has set aside some $$$ to keep this "Software Franchise" in the game. Why wouldn't they?

I hope Pete and Geoff don't get shit-canned anytime soon. I'm happy as **** and grateful for this 1.8 update.

Don't know if they where in it from the beginning,
but when these dudes started making a public appearance

the MPC software has improved by far.

The newer beta testers have contributed a lot also , I guess, and forum members also.

Are the old beta testers still involved or they taking the Bus?

It depends how good it is and what differentiates it from the Ren/Studio. If they try and charge $3000 for a Ren in a standalone box they're dreaming! The component costs for a bigger LCD and Windows Embedded are pretty cheap, and all the software side of things is maturing nicely and should be easy enough to port over, so we'll have to wait and see what they come out with. I definitely don't want Pro Tools in a box though!

The best scenario would be a hybrid that acts as a controller to the software for detailed big screen editing and heavy plugin use, which you can then render the entire project to play seamlessly in standalone mode for live use. Alternatively, you could start in standalone mode and eventually hook it up to the computer (if you wanted) to add all the CPU intensive stuff. It seems like the obvious next step to me.

Would be running in Windows, so would not really need porting, just different screens for the user interface on a larger high-res colour LCD display vs the Renaissance/Studio old school monochrome LCD displays, along with touchscreen functionality on those new screens, if they implement a touchscreen as well.

I struggle to work it out in dollars, but if the Ren is £650 they probably need to be capping the price between £1200 to £1500. That's doable for people who are serious about producing music, and nothing for people who earn a living from it IMO.

There are a few of the OG testers still around. But for the most part as of the end of 1.6, it's pretty much an entirely new team. Probably the best team as a whole the MPC software has had thus far! Shit is getting DONE! We can put it at that!

Couldn't agree more! I'm really interested to see where they land with the price and what it will actually be able to do.

Getting back on track I've been in love with 1.7 so far but i must say at this stage in life the mpc is killing the machine in my opinion. i know in great detail because i have both. I was using both cuz machine had the chord feature but now the b*t*h will be up for sale upon the release of 1.8. i have gotten so complex with creating music maschine 2 was starting to crash on me so that with that terrible seq'in it has pretty much made it so not the tool for me. i have been a mpc head for a while now and when the software came out i was excited but then disappointed but all those feelings are gone of not being sure if akai was going to get it right, kinda like being in a relationship lol. But i must say I READY TO MARRY YOU GUUUURRRRRLLLL!!!!!

P.S. plz add bpm detect thats all I need….. for now

Yeah, I think that's a great suggestion. I also never timestretch drums, or anything else for that matter.

There's also a lot of scope for improving the way keygroups are handled. I'm pretty sure the last time I tried in Kontakt you could just throw a bunch of chromatic samples at it and it would automatically map them out with crossfades. That would be a nice feature in the Ren.

Sometimes I'll time stretch a drum break if I don't want the pitch the change. But for the most part I'm the same way.

This is a massive update finally some attention to sample edit

Something like Redmatica keymap automap would be really cool in a future update.

but at the moment can wait for this to drop.

Next Sequence bug fixed? PLEASE!
