just got mpc 4000 sampling question

Check out this video on YouTube...I dont know if this will answer your question but there is a part where he is sampling and you can see what he is doing, its a part where he trims down the sample.

When i stop sampling i don't get any click, that's usually cause your sample doesn't end on a point of 'Zero Crossing'
It's only when using the stretch function to time stretch a sample whilst maintaining it's pitch i sometimes get a click added onto the end but i have work around for this. it is a pain but is only occasional

Oh okay! Thats wassup...how do I get to a point of "Zero Crossing" because that click is the whole reason why I stopped sampling with the 4000...

So I am a proud owner of the 4000 now as well. This is my first post on this forum as well. I am trying to figure out if I can plug a USB powered keyboard into the front USB port of my 4000 and use it as a midi controller. I am using my 4000 as a master keyboard to run reason 5 and I would like to use my oxygen 25 USB keyboard as a second control keyboard for REASON 5. This keyboard does not have a midi out on the back of it just the USB cord that powers it transfers the midi notes. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

it could be because you arent synced properly or because you are upsampling and adding clicks. are you using analog in?

I think I know the answer, i noticed this oddity on my Z8 & did a few tests.
Presumably same applies to MPC4k. I dunno if it's a feature or if it's misbehaving.
It's cos it doesn't play back the whole sample, the last 600 or so samples are not played back eg a sample 12000 samples long only play back the first 11400 (approx).
I noticed this when i reversed a sample (psytrance kick) & it sounded cack cos the attack portion was removed. When i added 1000 blank samples onto the end of the reversed sample i could hear the whole thing including the attack portion (now near the end of the sample).
Also when i sampled 2 sequential kick drums and trimmed the 2nd one off by ear, the graphical waveform display still shows the first bit of the attack portion of the 2nd kick drum, even though you can't hear it!
I did write down the exact number of samples that don't get played back (i think there's a slight fade approx 600 to 700 samples from end).
Try adding silence 1000 samples long onto the end of the sample & see if the click disappears.
Clearly this is going to be a bit time consuming to do for each individual sample.
I've looked all over the tinternet to see if anyone else noticed this cos i thought my Z8 (os 1.45: the newest one) was misbehaving, but maybe it's a deliberate 'feature'...
