Hey y'all. First time poster here. Just got my MPC1000. I'm primarily planning to use it in tandem with the EHX2880 loop pedal, which has MIDI ins and outs, and can create quantized loops that chop to a given MIDI tempo (dictated by a MIDI master that plugs into the loop pedal via MIDI in).
So, for example, my usual workflow would be to hook up my loop pedal to my drum machine, play a beat for a certain number of bars, and record that into the looper, which then maintains the MIDI tempo beat. Then I can overdub other synth phrases or elements as I see fit - all of which continue to play back as a seamless quantized loop along with my initial beats.
My (probably stupid) question is:
How can I record sounds from the loop pedal (MIDI out) into the MPC1000 (MIDI in) as long samples while retaining their MIDI tempo information, so they're still tethered to the MIDI rhythm of the system? Is this possible? As far as I can tell, there isn't a feature in the "RECORD" mode menu that accounts for any MIDI information of the incoming audio. Am I going to have to essentially do this by "luck," just hoping that any recordings I make from the pedal line up to the loose MIDI tempo grid of the MPC?
