Hey, first post here so i hope im in the right area. i have a question i cant find answers to.

So i've been meaning to get a laptop and a group of people thought it would be great to get me a surface pro 3 for xmas. Runs great and all, really liking it. So i've tried to install the MPC Software and for the most part, it runs and it runs smooth. I have one problem though. The knobs on the software dont respond. Like the master volume, the submix, ect. They stay at default but if i try to adjust them, it just goes down to INF and stays there, it wont budge. I have to restart the program to get it to work again. I've checked the preferences, restarting, reinstalling, using the mpc studio, not using the studio. I'm all out of options.

Am i missing something? I've been a mac user so im pretty new to windows, let alone windows 8.1. I have a friend who has windows 8 but on a desktop and his runs flawless. He has no answers though, so i thought you guys do? Searching the mpc software for this topic is pointless on google because all i get is links to buy an mpc, cant stand that, and i have yet to see any surface pro 3 users on this forum. Any advice would be great. FYI, i just got this laptop, so everything is at default and everything is up to date. just this one problem.

I'm running:

Intel i7-4650U CPU @ 1.70 GHZ 2.30 GHZ
Windows 8 64bit 8GB RAM

I have similar problems on my desktop using Win 7. This behaviour came in with 1.7 and hasn't been addressed yet.

BTW, The surface pro 3 look's nice, very sleek and is something I have on my dream list to pair up with the Ren for live shows/travel so I'm looking closely at how your experience with this combo works out.

:-D

Thanks, the surface pro works great, It lags though. Im guessing 8gb of ram isnt enough, which is weird. It runs fine as im creating tracks but once i start using the expansions, that's when it begins lagging like crazy. I dont know, im starting to think this machine cant run this program. I have protools as well but i've seen it run sonar, cubase, abelton, maschine, kontakt, heck, i've even seen it run Mac OS.. i dont see what im doing wrong. Its still a great buy though, Its a beautiful little beast lol..

I've never had an issue with the knobs before, it could be the touch screen that's causing this. I've opened a few old sessions and everything resets including the main volume. Its that metronome that's got me frustrated. I've uninstalled and installed and nothing. It wont go back to its original settings, its been a week already..

it also sucks that i've had over 180 views and noone but yourself has cared to even comment on this issue. thank you for your reply and your thoughts, ill keep you updated on what i will end up doing. I find that this computer with a studio/Ren looks so sleek and professional but with a twist of modern technology with the touch screen and portability. I like having to pick up my tablet after a recording and just sit with it on my lap, mixing, from my couch.

Running on a Dell Venue Pro, the Studio works well. I am able to move qlink knobs with the stylus.

Could it be some retina issue? Not sure if surface 3 has that or not. It's something about square pixels at the edges causing lagg (read it in another thread in another forum regarding another program ... can't remember what though!)

At what resolution do you run your desktop? High resolution on a touchscreen can cause problems at times. Try lowering the resolution. Then try moving the dials.

Additionally, it may even drop the screen lag when you start adding plugins.
