Mixdown, MIDI Synthesizer Recording Problem

hi everybody, i'm new on the board and i have used JJJOS1 for quite some time and yesterday i upgraded to JJOS3.

i was excited to use the mixdown function in the SONG screen but here's my problem:
i use the mpc to send midi to my synthesizer and the synthesizer sends back audio in the left record in.
i can play the synthie just like i want and everything works but wenn i try to solo the track, go to SONG to record it with mixdown(because i need the audio, not the midi!) to get just the plain sample without having to cut it or anything(straight 2 or 4 bars or whatever) it doesn't record anything! its just a mute sample.
when i'm playing back the sequence i can hear the synthie and in the record screen too, why won't it work in mixdown?

can someone help me out here?

ok, it seems like no one can help me out with this one.
so i tried another method to record my synthesizer: via the looper.
but also, when i go to [SETUP] and set the input to: MONO L, i can actually directly record IF i'm playing it right into the looper with nothin but click.(no playback of actual sequence or whatsoever)

isn't there a way i can just playback my sequence in the looper so i have my perfect 2 or 4 bar loop? (input still on: MONO L of course because i only want to record that synth).

can someone relate to my problem or even has a solution? it would be sooo appreciated...with drums

The TAKE function does not record midi!

Set the input to on, set the track to solo and then do a take. Should give you just the synth input. I do this sometimes with no problems.

let me get that straight, do you use the TAKE function or are you recording in an audiotrack? because that's how i do it now, works fine. just funny how long it took me to find that out.

What do you mean with: set the input to on?
In the recording screen i have:

INPUT:ANALOG;MONO-L

and in the Input Thru screen i have:

Input Thru:STRAIGHT; Source:ANALOG; INPUT:L

So now, when I'm on the main screen i go to the MIDI-track with the notes i wanna record and set it to SOLO.
Next step is on the SONG screen, where i hit Mixdown->DO IT
after that i have a silent take01.wav with no recording or anything.

What am I doing wrong here?

No, I am using the Song Take function to get an exact bar length .wav file. Pretty accurate and no probs really
