Track function in mpc 2000 classic

Hi there,
I just bought a used mpc 2000 classic and I'm learning the machine pretty well. I can't figure out though, how I can add s single sound to a track and play with mute and solo. Also have you any ideas how to clean the machine inside out without harm its electronic? I opened it and it had a little dust inside.

wait you know about tracks... you record each sound or what ever you want on their own tracks..

then you can either push on or off with the F keys or where you see track on or off on the main screen push open window for the track mutes window.

and you can use a can of compressed air to clean inside the machine.... except it's a pain in the ass to get inside the 2000 compared to the 2000XL...

In the main screen, above Pgm, go to "On", select Yes, then the Open Window button above your data wheel. You'll now be in the track mute screen. If you want to mute individual sounds, you would need to record your drums on separate tracks, since there's no pad mutes like you'd find on the MPC1000/25000 JJOS.

When cleaning the unit, use some air in a can to remove the dust. If you have any tact switches that seem dry and unresponsive, you can rejuvenate them with contact cleaner spray. You can use q-tips and 90% isopropyl alcohol to clean any interior grime safely. Remove the pads and soak them in hot water and wash with dish soap. The top chassis can be cleaned with windex, dish soap or formula 409 (or anything similar for heavy grime. Dry your pads and top chassis entirely before putting the unit back together.

Yeah it's window cleaner. If you just need a minor cleaning of the top chassis, spray some on a paper towel and wipe clean.

One more question, how do I spray the contact cleaner on the tact switch?

well when you have that spray... you open the machine and the clicking bit behind the plastic button... you spray a little on it and push it to get it inside. you can watch a youtube vid to see exactly how people do it...

you can search for "cleaning tact switches" or something like that.
