Not really, the s900 has stock memory compared to s950 which can add 2 more memory sticks.
the s950 has time stretch, the s900 doesnt.
the s900 has a little bit lower max bandwidth (never sampled it that high anyways)

But besides taht its the same deal.

different floppy drive I believe... and also the s900 can use the ask90 board for triggering samples via audio in... and I think the s900 brand new was more expensive than the s950 was brand new when it came out (well i guess later parts were cheaper to make so that makes sense)

Other than that, I guess they are the same. The s900 standard has quite a bit of ram, I am not quite sure how much... but you can sample quite a bit into it....

i can fit whole beats into the s900 :)

i dont timestretch ANYTHING so its perfect. edit: it would be pretty awesome to have the trigger board and an electric drum kit and chop breaks and re-play them on drums

dhutton, no hate bruz, and im sure its a personal taste thing, but that 1k looks hideous, though i dig your space!

This is a perfect minimal setup but you should consider tweaking things slightly to make it more ergonomic.

Maybe move the Sub Phatty onto a small keyboard stand to either your left or right, which will free up desk space so you can get your MPC, mixer and deck next to each other. You should also angle your monitors inward slightly to form an equilateral triangle with your listening position, and getting some of those foam thingamabobs for them to sit on is a good idea.

The pic reminds me that I need to get my Sennheiser HD650's repaired. They're irreplaceable.

man, you could set up mics with a regular drum kit and the audio itself will trigger the s900 sounds... without midi. You could run 8 outs from the mpc into it... or anything you want. Kind of neat IMO.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm moving from Michigan to San Francisco for a job so I've been putting off making the set up more ergonomical, as I know space will be limited once I find a spot to live. Also I didn't choose the colors for the 1K, picked it up off E-bay, if it would've been up to me I would've gone with an all white one. Still works just the same though!
