How does he set up his MPC to do like "runs" of sounds by holding down the pad?

what do you mean by "runs"?

if you mean the way he makes the drumroll with the snare you hold the taptempo and hold the pad to whichver snare you wanna use.

if your referring to something that has to do with the ssample, im sure whatever tyour talking about canbe accomplished by playing with a few things in the params screen. try mono voice p layback, that might be what your looking for, i dunno just trying to help cuz im a newbie also

I would like to know how long it took for this fool to dig for the record he sampled, chop it up, process the sample, find the perfect BPMs, find the perfect drums to compliment the sample, find the perfect bass patch to lay under the track...etc. Real producers know what's up with the procedure. This kat is doin his thing though and you can't knock him for it, otherwise your nuthin but a hater. The transition was kinda smooth, and it was definitely NY style to the fullest. Other than his bogard about the process, this kat knew how to navigate through the MP...that in itself is pretty comendable. Respect to all MPC Creators!

"it didn't impress me much"

I have to agree. It just shows how thoughtless they are when it comes to make music. I don't wanna be a hater, some of their joints are cool, but it all sound lke they have the chipmunks as their main singers on their music. I remember when mannie fresh said he does his tracks in 15 minutes, and a slew of wack producers emerged from it because now it was cool to make 20 beats a day. If you can pull it off, then cool, but I can't imagine that sound being around for a long time. Kanye started it with 'oh boy' (I think it was kanye) and the heatmakerz took that style and ran with it.

Yeah, it's gonna play itself out cuz n*ggaz is killing the vocal samples. I'm just waiting for the raw sh*t to get put on again and see what these cats gonna do then

Some of they tracks be straight.... some is straight garbage. I can imagine them doin' some of their shit in 20mins. or less.... it sounds like it.

I also think there's a difference in "makin' a beat" and "producing a track". When I'm makin a beat, I'm just arranging the sample, layin a melody and bass or what not... and adding drums. That doesn't take much time.

When I'm "producing a track", I'm choosing the best patches for the synth parts, finding the best drums, sequencing the track to vocals, and tweaking samples to my liking, blahzay splee.... Thats the time consuming part.

Sometimes (most times) I do one process directly after another. Which make my people say I'm full of shit when I say I "made this beat in 15 mins." Cuz they see me sittin wit one beat for an hour or so. But the actual beat makin process was over a while ago.

That whole joint is nonsense... its talk shit video for the masses... nobodies or newbies who wanna be beat makers...

heres what we'll do...

I'll bring a loop from a record with various parts and i want you to make a track from it.. here ya go...

i wanna see that ***** put the record on the turntable sample it eq it chop it create a pattern for drums keys bass etc... cant do it in 20 mins man... thats all a set up man...

dude in the video had hi hats already there.. .all i saw him add was a crash and a kick... where those snares come from? or them hats?
no tempo matching? no filtering please dogs..

i can concoct my own vieo doin some shit like that and ****** are gonna be like wow! hes amazin... not hating just stating the facts
