Adam A8X or Genelec 8020 LSE Tri Pack?

I have a small bedroom setup and want to upgrade the monitors for better bass range. I currently am using Event ALP-5.

The width of my mixing area is about 10FT. The room is roughly 20'x10'

There are two brands that I've demoed and really liked. Adam and Genelec.

Which would be more appropriate for a compact mixing space?

Or should I do smaller Adam satellite A7X and an 8 Inch sub (Sub8)

In a room that size I'd consider the A7X with the sub. I don't use a sub myself, but I've had the A7X monitors for a few years now. They kick out a lot of sound for their size.

Agree with Coz. Even tho... treat your room first. I have Adam A7x too (don't use a sub either), and while they would sound really really nice, it all is ruined from my untreated room.

PS: You're gonna be broke after all these purchases!

Not the backpack version. That would be a little bit weird.

It just fits onto your chair. If I'm not impressed it'll get sent back.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am going for the A7X with Sub 8. A7X is nice because it even goes down to 42hz. Did you also know that one of the engineers who left Adam made his own monitor brand called Eve Audio? I even talked to fhe Adam rep and he said the same thing. He says what matters most is how close you are to the monitors. 3ft or less and it is A7X or smaller.

@jibber now I am shopping around for acoustic treatments on sweetwater. Financially I'll be alright. What's going to kill me is when I get an Xrack with the stereo VCA and Stereo EQ unit. I'm being smart and waiting for all the namm announcements to finish also because I don't want to order something and have it superseded in a month

Hopefully they've sorted their restructuring out and can stay afloat.

Yea I read that yesterday when doing the research. Now I'm leaning towards Genelec because of the parts and repair issue. It's better to have support two years down the line then to be stuck sourcing spare monitors two years down the line right?

If you buy them new, i'm sure they will have warranty. I'd expect "someone" would still have to repair them if they break under warranty.

Car manufacturers have to supply parts for ten more years after a car is out of production, dunno what rules apply in the audio gear industry.

I ended up going with something more different....

Munro Sonic Egg 150. It has it's own separate amp. I picked it because the egg shape looks like an evolved genelec. The bass response and roll off look good. It's all hand made and everything needs to be matched. If I need them serviced they come with a 5 year warranty and they provide a loaner set while your monitors are being serviced. Plus the egg shape will add ambience to my setup. I'm getting them early next week. I'll do a review soon.
