Renaissance Price

I notice the price on the MPC Renaissance is now $699.99 from $999.99. Is this a indication of the New MPC's coming out, What your thoughts ?

Nah, I don't think it's an indication. To be honest, at least I hope not. The Ren still has a lot of potential (1.8 and let's wait what 2.0 could have in store for us) and I hope the Ren will be supported for a long time. Hopefully Akai doesn't make the same mistake as other companies that have a successful device and then release one slightly updated version after the other. That kind of sucks and is a kick in the nuts for all customers. And if there is a new MPC in the making, it should be a giant leap forward compared to the Ren, let's say like going from Playstation 2 to Playstation 4. And I could not imagine what that could be, except a true stand alone device like in the footage we all saw. At least that's my opinion.
Pretty good price though. Here in Germany the Ren still costs 890€ (about 1050$).
Let's see what NAMM will bring...

They can easily update the MPC controllers to new versions, but keep MPC Software compatibility with the older controller versions (Renaissance and Studio), so the software development could still be ongoing for both old and new customers.

The MPC Renaissance was shown at NAMM 3 years ago, and available nearly 2 and a half years ago, I expect that it is due for a replacement soon, possibly a new controller with an audio interface that handles USB3 better than the Renaissance, along with the rumored new standalone MPC (PC built in to controller).

Be interesting to see how it integrates with Ren.

So long as its 32 bit compatible and price is fair, first impressions looks to be a nice product.

What I think will happen: I'm doubting a new Ren will be standalone. Looks that they are closing the gap on Native Instruments with the plugin editing screen. I expect a new Ren will include one or two of those screens, but still primarily be a controller for software on an external PC or Mac.

What could happen: If a new standalone Ren is Windows-based, and will still allow VST installs, a screen like the one on these keyboards could provide the way to change params on the VST. Thus - still a controller, but controlling the software and plugins on the windows PC inside the Ren.

699 is attractive price for ren at the stage it's in and where it's headed, i think they're challenging NI.

yes, I think the price drops were more about competing with the Maschine (and the Studio competing with the Maschine Mikro) than anything strategic, product wise.

But I must admit that advance keyboard is awful purdy

next iteration: Black and red MPC Advance w/ tight integration with VIP and the color screen....makes sense...VIP may even entice former Kore users if it's solid

I thought it was a new Akai application, made specifically for these keyboards with their plugin screen, but that was just a guess.

Do you think it is a pre-existing application from one of the InMusic companies or someone else?

Naw.... why would i go from 16 pads to 8 (and illuminated) pads? If thats the case, I will just go back to sequencing on my Korg M3.

I can't wait for the secondary market to stabilize, hopefully I can get a Ren (without the software) for $450 ish.

I've seen refurb buy-it-nows for $499 (with software?) on eBay. It's been tempting, but would like to see NAMM product reveals first.
