Firmware update gone wrong V1.10

Now screen stays blank and first two pads are lit red, does that mean cotroller is bricked

Can't you power cycle it and try again?
There was some threads at the time the FW update was released that had similar problems if I remember correctly.
Hope you can get it working...and as you know the last resource is to call akai tech support.

tried the process few times without any luck...

the controller would start to act funny, freeze and become unresponsive after akai software update yesterday 1.7.2

I figured maybe because I didnt do controller firmware update...I think controller froze up again during the firmware update causing it not to finish successfully.

I contacted akai tech support...is there a way to factory reset the cotroller ?

Found a thread where someone was able to get it working again using windows, I'm going to give this a try

You mean like reseting the firmware......nah, not that I know of. (This is what's called a soft brick.)

Have you tried doing the firmware update from a PC that the Ren has never touched?

I think that's all I have left to try...such f***in pain in the ass, if the popup window didnt come up saying shit is out of date I would've never updated....now I've gotta find a PC

I remember me having funny lights too the first couple of times.
But I was doing wrong the power cycle...that's why I asked.
I remember too that some people got solved by changing to windows as sugested.
Hope you can mend it.

I followed the on-screen instructions of hold down shift, power cycle then release shift, power cycle again...I find it needing additional power cycle in order for the update to complete however the controller now always stays blank MPC logo never makes it to the screen anymore, neither is software picking up the hardware any longer.

There's a long thread about things going wrong – though not irreversibly – about firmware updating on this forum somewhere, from around the time when the firmware updater was first released.

I recall having some issues with my Studio, and i def thought i bricked it. Can't remember what the issue was and how I fixed it, but try searching for that thread.

My partner had the same issue with his and found the answer in one of the threads here. I'll see if he remembers the fix.

I fixed it by using my work laptop which is a dell running windows 7...I installed the hardware driver then firmware update then proceeded with the update and it finished successfully first time around...after it finished I reconnected Ren to my Mac and works without any problem.
