Emulator IV, EMU 4XT Ultra, EMU 6400 Ultra, EMU Esi-2000 or

What do you think about these killers: Emulator IV, EMU 4XT Ultra, EMU 6400 Ultra, EMU Esi-2000 or Yamaha A 4000?

4Xt and 6400 Ultra are practically the same thing except for installed options. Good things about them: Amazing sounding filters (seriously, very very good) and it's worth it to get the E-mu sound libraries if you can find them.

What about the EPS you were talking about?

very capable machines.
good, warm sound.
not as punchy as alai, but so many DNB classics have been made with those.
great GUI, fast to work with, amazing modulation matrix.

sample bass sounds really effing loud into it, do some more boosting, play with the filters...and you understand why they were seminal in DNB (Optical, Teebee...).

Still thinking what to purchase, because i need to travel almost 400 kilometers to coopt it, because if the seller send me via post service the costs will be almost like a price of EPS. So just in case i want to check about these that i posted above too. Jibber tried the floppy and ASR didn't work. Error 009 reboot so i'm taking it to a service.

What about Emulator IV, what is the difference between these and EPS or ASR in your opinion for example? Also what would be standard price for each? I want to compare with sellers prices.

Get the EMU 4XT Ultra.
It won't give you a vintage sound, but a really good sound and a really good sampler anyways, trust me.

Probably it is great sampler but used one for 769 euros, i dont know. What about Esi-2000 or 6400 Ultra, dr4track or anyone?

Shouldn't be that much – especially if it doesn't have the highly sought-after RFX-32.

E-mu 6400 Ultra is around 520 euros. Still didn't ask for discount. Anyone knows anything about Yamaha A 4000? Also found S3200 for around 300 euros with maximum memory, outputs, effects. E-mu Esi 2000 i can get for 125 euros.

E4XT should be around 200 Euro, 300 Euro max. S3200 should be around 50-150 Euro. Esi should be closer to 50 Euro, but really nothing special about that one, i wouldn't buy Esi.

No idea about the Yamaha. I think they sound excellent, but most people feel they are cumbersome to operate if i remember correctly.

Thanks for the information. In my opinion should be like that, but these sellers actually think that they can sell it double. So, i think i will try to cut the half of the price what they wrote there and wait for the response. Peace and if someone have more to say about these it will be constructive.

I was after an E4XT Ultra for a minute, but when I really looked into it I found the E6400 Ultra had everything I needed and was considerably cheaper.
That's what I bought and haven't looked back.

I just bought an e6400 ultra with 128mb ram and 128 voice expansion, scsi disks etc, 330 euro. (just hope it arrives now the only thing I'd wanted from an e4xt was the second midi in/out, that'd have been great for me but I'll survive with a midi merge box on front of it I guess.

Consider shopping around for a much lower price, they are out there..

I own a yamaha a3000 already. I know you asked about the 4k but what the hell. The a3000 is pretty nice, kinda slow to load and save and do stuff like normalization, but it sounds excellent, very clean, and the timing isn't too bad. Its full of fx too, and I actually use it mostly to route the input signal through the fx and out again, so its a multifx box. The knobs are well known to suck on these (the 4k/5k may have been improved). they cost around 100euro but they are brutally heavy so shipping is gonna cost too. I cut the fan out of mine, so its totally silent. Been running a few hours a day like that in a rack for years now, no sign of any trouble (or any noticible warming)

As i said above, they are really all the same, except for installed options (RAM, FX card, digital I/O, etc).

To quote another user from gearslutz:

Just get the cheapest one in the best condition that has all the options you want installed.

@mistamoon the 5000 is the one I have, good machine, e mus e series are especially good at bridging the gap if u own different samplers like say akai and ensoniq as well bcuz with the latest software they can read just about any of the proprietary file formats from most of the big name sampler companies. My gripes about the e mus tho is that they are a bit annoying to use. Chopping samples compared to the ensoniq is really a pain, the way the enveloppes work is annoying and takes some getting used to. But they also have a lot of positives such as expansive filter selection, solid efx great modulation capabilities. I second the idea of just getting the cheapest u can find as truthfully if u are a novice to samplers there is a lot in those machines u probably won't master for a while if ever. Just with the 5000ultra I do not find myself limited in any way. Now if u were trying to create large sample libraries with complex instruments or film score type music that would b different. But as a last note without scsi working with any of the e series will b a major fckin pain.
