Sample Load times

I have had my MPC60II for about 4 months now and I think it is the best thing since sliced bread with one exception....sample load times. It seems that when I load a kit (1.5MB or so) it takes around 3 minutes to load from SCSI 100MD Zip. I thought the floppy was slow and the SCSI option would be faster but it is almost the same. Anyone care to post their load times? Is the MPC 3000 any faster. Maybe I should sell the MPC60 and get me a 3000 for the filters.

Have you loaded MPC3000 files into the 60 from the mpc editor, yes it is slooow, but once yousave as 60 files it is much faster.

Yeah, 3 minutes sounds about right. I usually load up my sounds as I do something else, turn on other gear, gather records, take a shyt.

the 3k is slightly faster, but only an advantage if you stick to 1.5megs, if you are loading 16 or 32 megs of samples, you'll wait a little bit.

The 3000 is great, but for me, the drawbacks of the 60 are worth the advantages, 12 bit, simple interface, large panel (I find the 3000 slightly cramped in comparison) plus the filters in the 3000 are nothing to write home about, their best feature is that they are integrated into the mpc.

But if you want a 3000, getting one isn't a bad move, just make sure you won't miss your 60 before hand, since lots of times the greener grass syndrome can lead to some regret.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I know I have had the greener grass syndrome in the past and I may have a case of it here. I have been getting into house music lately in addition to hip hop. I've been using the 60 mainly for sequencing and using a S3000XL for all my sounds. The S3000Xl is cool but I don't have the filter option card and they are hard to come by. I figured I would dump the 60 and get a 3000 to have integrated filters. Maybe I can pick up a S950 one of these days to get that 60 sound back. Can you automate the MPC 3000 filters for sweeps and such?
