Couple Quick Questions

Sup everybody, im new here (and new to the world of MPCs), and had a couple of quick questions regarding the Ren.

1. Is a mixer necessary to use the Ren with a computer and/or Midi keyboard? I've taken a 5yr layoff from music production and im just now getting back into it. My Ren will arrive this week, and my midi keyboard soon after, just want to know if a mixer was necessary innthat purchase.

2. How do you sample using your iPad as the audio source? I've seen it done in YouTube with no explanation of how it was done.

You don't need a mixer. But you do need a dual RCA jack to 3.5mm with a TRRS adapter to sample using an iPad or smartphone. Enjoy. I love this machine.

with such large purhaces on your part id think you would know how google works. your two posts in this forum have been Q's google would have told you in 5 seconds. no big searching....

id suggest doing a little leg work on your own. get your gear in hand read threw manual. try a few things watch a couple vids. google specific questions your having issues with first. Then when your truly stuck come hit somebody up in here.

If you take this method, you will learn more on your own {which is very self rewarding} and when you do have a question that needs real help. you will be able to target it better. and other will be able, and willing to assist.

Had a long response typed up, deleted it. Respect. Just keep in mind this is a forum, and a forums sole purpose is for discussion. Can't be upset when a person has trouble finding something on their own and ask for help. It never hurts to be helpful.

Not to barge in or insult in any way, but folks normally don't reply about the most basic stuff or questions that have been asked like a billion times already. 50% of the threads could be avoided if some people just bothered a bit with the forum search.

1. No. MIDI and audio are like sheet music and instruments. MIDI just operates it or shows how to operate it. Audio is like what gets out. OR: Navigation (MIDI) shows you how to get there, while you (the sound generating unit) needs to drive all the way.

2. Line Out -> Line In. Easy as is.

Completely understandable, and thanks for the straight forward answer. I see you and I have similar equipment.
