MPC1000 sometimes disparaged in favor of MPC60, MPC3000 etc.

I use the 2xl OS in the 1000, not a 2kxl MPC.

I use the outs in the back, headphone out for headphones or if the right cable isnt around.

I bumped into Uwe Schmidt, Señor Coconit, Atom heart stuff, at a Hyperdub Night in NY with DJ Spinn & Taso. Uwe used the 3000 live a lot. he even used te vga output on projections and you can see him switching sequences and filtering. I saw him play before Morton Subotnik once. I told him I was on the JJ 2xl OS and that I love it and he said 'me too!'. So if a hardcore 3000 user who played live with it all over the world can appreciate JJ well I think some people just want others to understand their choice.

In the end it doesn't matter what you use, I get all choices it's just a question of trade offs and how you work.

ressurecting this thread since i am looking for folks who are using the 1000 as a master midi clock for other external hardware. i am hoping to get the 1000 to sync to a pigtronix infinity looper pedal. the pedal syncs up with other hardware okay, but all the info for syncing in the JJOS manual doesn't seem to be working for me
any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I'm using my mpc 500 as a master clock for my boomerang III looper. I have it set as master/soft thru.works awesome!

MPC 2500 with JJOSXL
I've had all the JJOS's on my 2500 since 2007. It's on OS2XL now, not JJOS3.
As the years have gone on, the polyphony and CPU usage has got worse.
JJOS eats polyphony.
Timing gets worse as polyphony increases.
CPU/OS gets sluggish and causes a few problems, one of which being random jumping screens.
Murai (JJ) seems to not care about timing, just features.

The JJOSXL features are brilliant. I fly around it and accomplish many creative things very, very quickly.
The sound is good really, although you have to be careful to avoid headroom issues and summing 'mud'.
I just find the jumping screens, sluggishness as you build up your tracks, timing issues as you build up your tracks, very annoying and a MASSIVE shame.

MPC 3000
Solid timing.
Solid sound.
Fly around it.
No problems.
From the 2500 I just miss Track Mutes and Q-links to MIDI CC outs, really.

i stopped using the 2500 completely, i m back on the 3k.
and i just got my 3000 serviced, its feels like new again

for sound mangling and chopping i prefer the SP404 way over the 2500.
i like doing things by ear. The zooming in and out on the 2500 drives me mad and distracts me completely from listening to what i actually want to achive. of course the 2500/JJ chopping is supreme but i always end up with useless programs, whereas on the 404 and mpc3000 every pad bangs! 1. for the sound 2. for the chopping by ear
