CD-R installation issues

right....i don't know if it's just that akai have jipped me or what....
i just got a cd writer to help with backups of songs, and i installed it all fine....until i realised there was no power supply to it in my mpc or the box it came in, so i can't use it!
i just really want to know if this is a common problem, and if so, where i can get one....akai uk are becoming increasingly more difficult to get help from....

yeah same prob here I endeded up cutting up standard computer powercables through the plastic part in half and managed to get them onto the pins i think the proper connectors you can only get from a akai reseller
