Can you play different instruments on multiple controllers?

I'm a nubie and I can't figure out how to configure midi channels. I know how to set up multiple controllers but I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to set them up on different instruments so as to play them simultaneously. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You would have to make sure you select the right midi port the controllers are connected to. As well as different midi channels for them too.

i do not think this would be possible. because if you have an instrument on track one midi ch 2 leave that track to another track. midi is no longer being sent to that last track. only highlighted track with said instrument.

Just an idea but u could lay a beat down. On your external hardware/synths, turn local control on. You use controllers though, run the vsts you want to run in standalone mode if they have it, then play them both in looper mode.
