MPC awful Filter

hi, i have questions about the mpc 2500 filter.

to be honest, it is maybe the baddest filter i have ever heard. i never use it because it sounds so bad, and when i am forced to use it because of "too much bad" high / low frequencies, i never use resonance. i guess the filters are not really designed for sound shaping, but only for effects like wah wah intros and so on.

i remember the 2000xl sounded better, and even the filter(s) in fruity loops (pc software) sounded better.

what do you think of it? how do you use it? some tricks?
and is the filter different in original akai os than in jjos ?

For me it really depends on the source sample. Its not great for drums when you wnat to add harmonics but it works fine on synth sounds such as bass hits when you wnt to take off the top end on some parts. Id call it "functional" rather than great. Just make sure your original samples are exactly what you wnat and it wont be an issue IMHO.

Which filter are you referring to? I find the LPF to be adequate for removing static/crackles from vinyl samples, and for isolating/shaping bass notes on a record. The HPF works well enough to cut out excess bass frequencies--at least for my purposes

I'm sure there are better filters out there, but the ones on JJOS have never left me feeling like they were useless

i dont care much for the BPF or the HPF, but that LPF is fine on jjos. bit of resonance can have it sounding nice.

I know it's all money but if it's massively important to your workflow you could always buy a dedicated hardware filter and re sample your samples through the filter?
