i recently got around to plugging in the cdrom drive that came with my S1000hd. it seemed simple enough, but i can't get it working.

i have a few questions that don't seem to be adresed in the manual. the manual seems to say:" hey you got a scsi interface! you know what scsi is? yeah! then have fun!!!"

i remember how scsi works, thanks akai, how about telling me something about how my sampler works...

how do i select the cdrom drive? it doesn't appear in the list with FLOPPY and HARDDISK-A thats where it should be right?

i tried changing the scsi id of the cdrom to various numbers but to no avail.

i also tried changing the hard disk ID in the HDSK menu to correspond with the scsi cdrom id instead of the internal hard disk id.

i'm also confused about termination, does the S1000 have automatic termination?(the internal hd works without a terminator when no external devices are attatched)
i have a terminator connected to my cdrom but it dosent seem to make a diference if it's their or not.

also can somebody point me to some known good akai cdrom images online?. iv'e no idea if my home made cdrom is working..

solved!

the scsi card inside the S1000hd has terminators installed which must be removed before an external drive may be used, and an external terminator must be used on the end of the scsi chain.

to change between the internal hard disk and the cdrom i must change the "scsi hard disk id" in the HDSK page.
