hey people!

first of all, really thanks for everything! this very forum has been a constant source of information and inspiration for so many years, it's really really amazing. i literally can't grasp the mere fact that there are people in here that are so open and giving when they are sharing their deep knowledge and experience. this is something extremely helpful and truly inspiring! :)

so... i tried out os3 today, and the only issue for me is the absence of loop hold playback of a sample. i have a couple of songs (which are in fact migrated from my poor old sp404) that i perform live in a straightforward (you can even call it stupid) way: i just press the pads with some long samples without any sequence running or anything, and loop&hold has been really perfect for that. i could never do it with a sequence because those are samples with different BPMs.

after digging and digging in the archives here, this is my question:

-is there any indication that loop&hold might be added in future os3 updates?
-is there any other way to do that in os3?

thanks a million times in advance for any possible reply! :)

ah a first post I see. Cool

OK, FYI it can play loop hold play back as you call it. You just are experiencing user error :? 8)

Set loop point of sample in trim window, then go to program and set the sample play back to hold i think it is from memory.
Yeah t can be done a couple of ways and I am at work right now, but yeah set it up in trim and change program playback parameter and it should work well.
Also you can just loop a sequence with the sequencer playing the sample every say 2 bars but you have to match the BPM of the sequence to the BPM of the sample.

hello guys! thanks a lot for the answers :)

yeah, that's exactly how things were in os2xl :) but unfortunately, that loop&hold option is not available in os3. that's why i was wondering if there is any indication whether it might be added in future updates.

Also you can just loop a sequence with the sequencer playing the sample every say 2 bars but you have to match the BPM of the sequence to the BPM of the sample.

the problem in my case (and that's why loop&hold was so helpful) is that i have samples with different BPMs which i don't want to be locked with each other.

Seems to be in Main Screen in the REPT field now

the repeat and hold options here are also linked to the sequence BPM, so it really doesn't let you do more free stuff with your samples. it's an amazing feature though, because you can get REALLY wild when building rhythms. you can practically have different samples stuttering at different speeds, it's extremely useful!

but yeah, it's a bummer that i will have to stick to os2xl for now (unless of course someone has a workaround for the loop&hold issue), because os3 feels like a new thing, and this gets you psyched up to work on new/different sh*t :)

I see thanks :)
Even if it's tempo and TC dependent there should be an OFF option for HOLD letting you using a sample ala OS2XL.

yes, i can use a sample, but i can't loop and hold a sample :)

let me re-explain the scenario, because maybe it sounded a bit confusing.

there is no sequence running, just the 1K in it's idle state, and all i do is trigger long-ish samples, samples with different lengths and different bpms. i want those samples to keep looping when i take my hands off the sampler :)

i could do this perfectly with JJOS2XL, just by enabling loop & hold in the program mode. but this feature is not there in OS3, and i am wondering if there is any plan to put it back in.

or maybe someone has a nice workaround that he could share!

thanks again guys, one trillion times, really really thanks :)

Not it's clear don't worry :)
That's why I'm thinking about an "HOLD:OFF" option before /32-3
It would have the behavior we are expecting, the same as OS2XL.

The official answer is in this case please use OS2XL.
I've made a request again put it's probably dead again.
