Hey, I'm a beginner to this and just picked up a MPC Element. But I'm having an issue using it as a MIDI controller. I want to use it as a controller for another piece of hardware using a 5-pin MIDI connection. But I can't seem to get any MIDI signal output over the 5-pin. I go to the MIDI Control Mode in the MPC Essentials software and assign the pads to the right notes and channel, but it doesn't seem to send any signal over the 5-pin MIDI. I can hook up a midi keyboard and and play the same note (i.e. channel 10, C -2) and the other hardware will respond, but I can't get the Element to work.
I've tried changing MIDI Out Ports in the Prefrences between MPC Publi and MPC Port 1, but neither work.
I looked at this thread, but it looks like they are talking about software MIDI signals inside the PC to communicate w/ a DAW, not external MIDI signals over the 5-pin MIDI cable.
(BTW, I am able to get MIDI in to work over the 5-pin, so I can control the Element/MPC Essentials with another controller, but not use the Element as a controller)
