need some advise with set up...

i have been using a MPC2000 for a couple of years now...actually, its been sitting in my closet for close to a year... i had made the switch over to Ableton Live...i am now wanting to use the mpc along with ableton... basically, i want to sample all of my drums into the mpc, and some of the synth sounds i make in ableton, and use the mpc as my sequencer for the loops...i am working with a floppy disc with the mpc so i only want to use the mpc as a sequencer...once i have the sequences i want, ill record with 8 outs back into ableton live to do final editing, eq'ing/compress/ect... my question is... how do i do this?? i am probably going to need an external soundcard usb into the laptop...i was looking at the Tascam 1800, anyone else have similar set up with a DAW that could shed some light here?

just now seeing that there is a book on this... just downloaded it and now to read up...

Yeah that seems like the proper way to do it in your situation, but remember to midi your mpc to your soundcard
