64 bit (Win 64) update 1.8.1 still crashing on plug in scan. Complete freeze up. Managed to grab few screen shots of the errors I'm getting, though these are when I tried to run the plug in scan on 32 bit (out of desperation)

One thing that is bugging me that has been changed since 1.8 is program edit/sample selection. before when picking a sound for one pad the next pad will continue where the last sound left off. now it start all over at the beginning. this make things slow as hell. Was this done on purpose or a bug? :hmmm: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

This is a bug. Was reported but just didn't make it into the release.

It looks like Akai fixed an annoying Region Edit bug in the Track View screen. It was hard to edit or move stuff around while the beat was playing. Shit would get all outta control. Placing and moving things were a hassle while the MPC was in play mode.

Now I dont have to worry about the mouse getting all slippery while trying to edit while the beat plays. Although, the software is still really buggy sometimes, there's workflow improvement for sure with Track View now!!

Hopefully Akai implements the midi drag & drop feature next update

i experienced one minor bug with lazy chop: while going through the slices in trim/chop mode and assigning them to a new program (after several slices were assigned to another program) the occupied pads of the first program remain lit even if you are already editing a new program with other pads occupied.

Not sure if I posted this already but there's no way of recording any automation for keygroups. No matter what I try (Record&Play or the Write button near the top right of screen) nothing records for keygroup automation.

Would it make sense to trigger the lazy chop by tapping one of the q-links? The button used is a bit stiff for that and you sort of have to begin the click far ahead of when you want it to trigger. Can you do it by using one of the two front inputs by the way?

I've had no bugs or issues with 1.8/1.8.1 apart from the bug mentioned in the posts above. It even fixed a screen error i had on the ren when messing with samples!

I haven't read all posts, this might have been reported already.

Patched Phrase, it doesn't seem to be working right.
I could be doing something wrong as well.

In example, Patched Phrase is meant to stretch slices if you lower the tempo, right?

So it seems to be stretching the slices ok in terms of time length, the lower the tempo the larger the slice. but the actual sample in the slice, in my case, just ignores the slice's end point and it plays at original speed, leaving us with silence after the end of the sample till the slice's end marker.

Does that make sense?

It would be cool if someone could try it out.

If someone wants to give it a shot,
Load ie any 1bar 120bpm sample, slice in 4 regions, create patched phrase, drag it to one of the pads, set track to 1 bar, record 1 bar note for that pad.
Play at 120bpm and start lowering the bpm in the transport bar.
Do you get any gaps of silence before each next slice?

On Mac 10.8.5, Pro Tools 10.3.10, I can't use PAD BANK except "A".
If you select BANK except A and hit any pad, MPC sounds what you hit and program on Bank A same time..

Akai, please stop this mirroring Bank issue while using DAW..

On stand alone mode, it works as it used to.

Sorry if this has already been reported.

No, patched phrase does not stretch slices, each individual slice remains the same length. It's basically like a self contained sequence triggering the original slices. If you drop the tempo, then you will get gaps of silence between slices. Always been that way, that's by design as per standard patch phrase spec since the MPC1000.

Patched phrase is not real-time timestretch.

Thanks for the insight tutor.

After watching an youtube explaining patched phrase in the software I was under the impression the audio stretched.
Wishful hearing certainly :Sigh:

Another thing to keep in consideration (or maybe its just me..), Jbridge on mac/mpc ren is a NO NO!!.
It's such a pest!!!
I had to buy 32 Lives and so far 32 Lives works like a charm. I bought Jbridge aswell but what a waste of time its costed me over the years.
