MPC AND THE DIGI 002 Rack

this might have been asked before but i don't understand how to get separate sounds on different tracks on pro tools. for example i want the kick on one track snare on another track. when i go to the mixer mode on the mpc to assign it to an out its 1 and 2 instead of just 1. i tried panning it to the extreme sides that doesn't help though can someone please give me some insight on how to set this shit up or help me out with a link to some search. How do i record???????????

Get an 8 output card for the MPC, if it doesn't already have one.
Get a 8 1/4 inch snake cable to hook it all up, plus some MIDI cables.

if a sound is in stereo you can't assign it to just one output.. you need to convert it to mono first.

Are you trying to record the sound on different tracks? One way to do it is to record one track at a time. For example: You have Seq 1 Trk 1--solo and record. Seq 1 Trk 1--solo it and record. This can be a painstaking way of doing it though, because of the time it can take. This is how I do it though, because most of my seq are 8 bar loops. So just solo each track, record the 8 bars and then duplicate those 8 tracks on pro tools.

is there anyway to record all tracks at once?

Depends on how many tracks you want to record, and if they are mono or stereo.The 8out card will do 8 at one time (4 stereo, or 8 mono), and you will need to route them in the mixer screen in the MP.

thanks i got my shit hooked up. how do i get pro tools to record when i hit the play button on the mpc?

oh and why is it that my fifth track comes in mad low. like you can barely hear it. on the digi 002 rack it has 4 gain knobs what do i do for the other tracks?

if u are using the first 4 channels on the digi002 as line inputs make sure they are set as line and watch the gain structure. i would send a sound out say 6 and 1 on the mp and then a-b them to make sure the levels are the same. if not then adjust the gain on the digi002. when you get the gains set then just assign your tracks in the mp to each out.
