hi guys, no sure if this has been mentioned. sorry if it has. Any reason
why a midi input from a keyboard etc. doesn't change to the selected sample.
the same way it does when i press on a Ren pad or on the keyboard in GUI.
Any one know whats happen here. :hmmm:

hi maybe i didn't explain well enough.

say you have pad banks a,b,c,d etc filled with samples
when you press on a pad or the keyboard GUI it highlights the sample playing
so when you hit Sample Edit it brings up the sample you just played.

now when i use any input from a midi keyboard it will not do this.

so i'm wondering why it doesn't react the same as the GUI keyboard.

i can maybe understand that if you inputed an external sequencer like another mpc the
screen would be switching between waves like a madman.

Because midi input is just a series of messages - not a waveform.

What you can do is sample or resample the input and then place it on a pad as a .wav file, or use it in a keygroup to recreate it over a range of keys.

the reason i'm asking this is because i made a 96 pad Lemur template so that you
play across 6 different pad banks. like a large keyboard obviously this takes up less
space.
but the midi input behaviour is not the same as GUI keyboard and Ren pads.

it's not big deal but it's something that's been overlooked. anyone using a midi
keyboard wanting to play across all banks then edit a pad more directly will understand.

i'll put it as future request.

I see what you mean. How did you get that layout above? How do you access that on the Ren software? I've been looking for something like that so I have a wider range of keys from my Roland via midi.

The Lemur is an ipad / iphone / android app. you can build your own midi /osc
controllers. obviously what i've done is very basic. i thought i would get a Novation Launchpad Mini but i had Lemur already, so i just made a template.
not everyone wants a huge keyboard on the desk. so ipad or launchpad seemed
the best option to access the other banks simultaneously.
so that's when i noticed the behaviour of the incoming midi.
like i said it's not big deal but would be great if they opened this up abit for
customization.

the site will give you a better idea of what can be done with Lemur.

there are cheaper apps that can do a similar sort of thing but
Lemur is as we say from where i'm from "the governor".
