Can't seem to edit posts in this section, so I'll amend it this way. Did more testing and Problem 2 below is intermittent, so sometimes it will save the processed sample with the programs and other times it will not. Haven't picked up the pattern...

DaizM wrote:PROBLEM 1
Scrolling through the sample list from the Hardware while in Sample Edit mode while a Program is elected in the Project List, will scroll through samples that are not in the chosen Program.

Steps to reproduce:
(1) 5 samples loaded, 3 samples in Program B, 2 samples in Program A
(2) Enter Sample Edit and then the 'Program' tab Hardware
(3) Click Program B to select it in the software in Project list
(4) Use hardware Scroll wheel to scroll from third sample in Program B to first sample in Program B in the sample list
(5) Continue to scroll up the list, and even though you will already be at the top of the list, the software will continue to change the sample the appears in the first position and display samples from other programs (i.e. Program A).
(6) If you try to scroll back so that the first sample in Program B appears in the first position, the highlight will skip to the second sample and you cannot even click with the mouse to select the first sample in the first position.

I'm thinking if a Program is selected when in Sample Edit mode that you should only be able to scroll through the samples for that program from the hardware.

PROBLEM 2
When editing a sample that belongs to a program and then saving the Program, the software is not saving processed samples with the program.

Steps to reproduce:
(1) Open a program
(2) Edit stereo Kick on pad A1 and convert it to mono. (the software creates a mono version of the sample with a new name)
(3) Assign the newly created mono sample to pad A1 via drag and drop or scroll to the new sample
(4) Right click and save the Program (which I thought is supposed to save the program and samples in it)
(5) Close the project (do not save it, shouldn't need to for this)
(6) Open Project and load the program, go into sample edit
(7) Hit Pad a1 and the Stereo kick is still there on A. You will also find the converted sample is not among the samples in the sample list when the program is loaded AND the sample does not exist in the filesystem among the other samples in the folder where the Program was saved. It's just gone....

Ok, I've defended Akai about the commonly reported 'Song Mode' issues as I saw some problems in 1.7 previously however I've now spent hours wrestling with a malfunctioning song mode, which is seriously hampering my creativity and workflow.

Nigh on impossible to construct a song with more than 12 sequences, for the reasons already discussed.

Also, I don't know if this is a standard feature or not (it may be), but either way it's not good....if you have x number of sequences with say 10 tracks, and then one sequence with several tracks which differ from the others, when listening in song mode everything seems fine, but converting to a sequence (which you have to do, to get around the song mode problems) corrupts the song by transposing notes/events from one track onto the track program for the 'out of line' sequence. I see the workaround is to ensure all tracks are exactly the same for every sequence, but it doesn't seem difficult for the software to work out that it is a different program for a specific sequence and add this to a separate track ID. Perhaps I'm just asking too much.

I had the exact same problem and spent several hours fixing tracks and programs of a fairly complex project. I have been arranging all tracks the same lately to avoid this, but I was also wondering whether this is by design or not.

can someone verify this: when using mpc plugin with a template or autoload file (or even standalone) the adjustments made for q-links concerning the touch sense functions is not saved. other adjustments like midi channels are saved properly it seems; just to be clear i mean adjustments in the midi controller mode

EDIT: If you turn touch sense on on couple of q-links and save it, close the mpc software and then reload your template the adjustments are gone; if you save the adjustments and load the template/autoload file without quitting the software before the adjustments made are still there..... strange :hmmm:

Here's another weird one. Mine freezes when I go to pad assign (for my beloved chord feature) in the 64-bit version, but runs fine in 32-bit. Doesn't seem to be caused by a particular VST. Happens with stock and 3rd party. Running Win 8.1 64-bit. :?

Yeah, not a bug, this is how hardware MPC's have always worked. Would be better if it didn't but its not really that big a deal to just make sure you're lining up your tracks.

Is anybody having issues in SAMPLE RECORD mode? I cannot record new samples via any means (PHONO, MIC, STEREO, L/R, etc). The signal flow is going through the MPC Ren to my Apollo and monitors just fine but the MPC does not "see" the signal in order to be able to initiate RECORD. I never had this problem before 1.8, and 1.8.1 didn't fix it. And like others have posted, I'm having similar issues in SONG mode and experiencing numerous blue screen crashes. Frustrated with all these bugs!

athanasius wrote:Hi,

I Have (again) an issue with the preferences window.

After having played with mpc software without the hardware, I try to open the soft 1.8.1 connected to the mpc : the message "your audio device has changed" appear totally frozen, and I can't select "cancel" nor "go to preferences".

The only thing I can do is reboot my macbookpro.

I can open the software via logic, but not in stand alone !

I had this problem after the installation of 1.8, seems to be fixed with the patch 1.8.1, and then... again

I run with a macbook pro 2,3 Ghz intel core 2 duo.

Is anybody have the same issue, and found a workaround solution ?

I had the exact same problem in 1.7.2... I turned everything off and rebooted my Macbook. I opened the MPC software and that worked as the preference settings were as the last time I had used it. Went into preferences and changed the audio settings manually. Closed MPC software, turned on MPC Ren and 5 seconds later the software and everything was fine again.
Can't say how it is with 1.8.1 as I did not want to try again, afraid everything might freeze again.

Same problem in 1.8.1, happened as I forgot to connect the MPC to my laptop and turned on the software. Said preferences had changed and total crash once again.

Am I to understand that I cannot use MPC studio with Win7. I plan to use on Mac, Win 7, Win 8 & XP? Is it possible?

Hmmmmm so many bugs. I was suppose to be ordering my studio today. Getting scared. Maybe I should stay with my old stand alone?..... Sounds like some people can't even create beats after the upgrade...... Puzzled.

Song mode is messed up. Maybe it's always been. If you don't set it up perfectly the first time, you're screwed.

Problem 1: I made a bunch of sequences. For step 7, I put sequence 11 in that spot. Didn't like what I heard when I previewed it, so I edited sequence 11. Went back into song mode, and it reset step 7 as sequence 1. Changed it back to sequence 11 and previewed my song. After previewing, it reset back to sequence 1. Doesn't matter if you delete and insert sequence 11 or any other sequence and add sequences after that, step 7 will always reset back to sequence 1.

Problem 2: I previewed my song. After that, I decided to make another sequence by copying sequence 10 onto unused sequence 12. I edited sequence 12 to my liking. When I went back into song mode, everywhere I had sequence 10 was changed to sequence 4. Also my first three steps were set to sequence 1, sequence 2, and sequence 3. I noticed that sequence 1 and 2 were gone. Step 1 was replaced with sequence 11, and step 2 had sequence 3. What gives?

Noticed yesterday that if I am in chop mode, and I assign a slice to a pad - then click to main screen to check it, that when I go back into sample edit mode the chops appear to have disappeared until I click to add a slice, at which point they all re-appear - unfortunately, of course, with the new slice I've added which means I have to delete that slice.

You are looking at a bug report thread. Of course you will see lots of bugs being listed (not all of which are bugs).

To be honest, the issues should not stop you getting the studio. At least Akai do keep coming through with new versions which *should* fix any significant bugs.

The only bugs that really have me pulling my hair out are in song mode, and even that has various workarounds.

No automation on keygroups.I'm on Win 7 & 8.1 and both don't have any sort of automation of keygroup parameters.

I'm assuming it's a bug as it was there before and I would like it to be returned. Thank you very much :)
