exporting tracks into logic x

peace out there wondering does anybody out there have a solid remedy for exporting tracks into logic x currently I'm using a 2500 with os2xl i have mbox 2 pro I've been exporting the whole beat on 1 track with in my daw its cool but i would like to now how to export all my tracks from the 2500 in to my daw I'm using a eurorack ub1832fx board with 14 inputs i was told to get a sound card but don't no which one or how to operate it I'm not a technical person so please take your time to explain my mpc is running in to my mbox in the 2 front inputs 1-2 please let me know thanks

So you want separate tracks for each sound? And then mix down in your DAW ?

There is a TAKE feature in Song mode in XL and OS3. You just solo the track and then do a take. Then drag this take onto your computer from your CF card after you saved it. Do this for each track.
Otherwise you will have to multitrack record at once into a DAW. This is done by assigning different sounds to each output, generally in mono, and then record each out at once. Of course this is why others tell you, you need a soundcard with multiple ins and outs. This is not a cheap option, specially with nice units, expect them cost thousands of $$$$ for really good one or 100s for avergae ones like say this

Not fully fond of the mpc2500, so cant tell you about exporting, but i do know it has 8 assignable outs feature. You can use these to assign specific sounds in your sequence (kick, hi hat, snare, sample 1 etc..) to each track on your DAW. Ive done this with mpc2000xl and mpc1000 in Logic 8 & 9.

As for interface I did most tracking on a Presonus Firepod 8inx8out and now since Ive upgraded to a Focusrite Saffire pro 40 8in. Both of those had 8in to simultaneously record up to 8 sources from my akai (only 4 with the mpc1000 since it only have 4 assignable outs, the 2500 and many others have . I got the Firepod for $300 in 2008 and the Focusrite was $500, so it not that much of a set back for more inputs.

Your mbox2 is good, but sucks only has 2 inputs (right?). If theres an export feature to take clips or stems from your mpc 2500 so you can import them into Logic X that is sweet and can be a big time saver.

yeah thats the TAKE feature I posted

heres how i'm doing it at the moment(figuring it out as i go)

i use a cheap 2x2 interface, so i plug assignable outs 1/2 into my interface's two inputs, not bothering w/ the S/O for tracking at the moment, since muting every single sound can be pretty dang annoying on every sequence.

so go into your first sequence, pick a track, if you're okay with just bouncing all of the sounds in the track into one recording, just assign the track to assignable 1/2(if you want stereo), i use ableton but i made a lazy template that looks like



1 stereo track, 2 monos. if you keep your stuff mono while you're making the track it's gonna be alot faster.

this way of doing things isn't great, but eh.
