After installing JJOS 1 Ver-500 my mpc1000 display became dim and unable to adjust with data wheel /shift is there a fix before I commit to paying $59.00 for the PW.

Try holding the stop button and turning the data wheel.

Holding the stop button and turning the data wheel worked. Is there way to avoid having to do that each time I turn on the MPC?

I can't remember if there's a way to prevent that from happening in JJ OS1. I haven't used that version of the JJ OS in a few years. But I do remember that JJ OS2 and up save your contrast settings. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
