You might want to make a song that's fast in the verse but has a slow tempo in the chorus, so you'll want the ability to set the tempo of each sequence independently. But there are other times when you want all the sequences set to the same tempo, master tempo, so that everything plays at the same tempo.

thx for taking time to explain.

why I'm confused is i don't see why you would make a seq at a particular tempo then want to change these during song creation. like making a track with a floating tempo?

really stoked for update though. thx betas

Yes me too. I want to hear a good dam reason why lol. tell me why this is and has to be a main feature?? :hmmm: ok go...

i got one better for you. tempo change by automation and or just copy sequences only, with out track midi data. for example you have a sort of blank template of the original sequence ready for new midi programing.

I've never understood this request. :hmmm:

Most people have their Ren/Studio in front of the computer anyway, with a keyboard next them. It seems like a backward step.

smh. I say the same thing. When I was using legacy MPC's I was dying to have ability to use a keyboard to type. That pad tapping shit takes too long.

A lot of people come from the hardware MPCs that do this and they are used to this method, there are a lot of folks that would like to turn their monitors off and push the keyboard and mouse to the side and use the Ren as if it were a actual hardware unit, it's all about workflow.

"Workflow" ... and this is the point exactly... if you see how us old hardware users type on an mpc, its like watching the 'arabbeats' guy... some of us can type quicker on a mpc than on a keyboard, why? because were on it most of the time anyway...

and more to the point they should of never started so far away from the original mpc's, it should of been its foundation and then work from there, so now they having to work back and forth.

embrace the old and new... (though nothing really is ever new, just new for you young bucks)

workflow :hmmm: thats cause there was no other option.

if i really have to name any thing. i use virtual keyboard on the mac you. just type in with the mouse as you still have to use the mouse for some stuff at the moment.
until they make so you don't really need to reach for the mouse then naming from
the hardware is very much at the bottom of the list (actually it's no even on my list  ).

anyway how this has come on since 1.0 is amazing, liking the 4000 features please put in some more

What do you use the mouse for? I think renaming from the hardware would be great, thats the only thing I use my computer for at the moment. The only other feature I would want is side-chaining (and a fix for the song mode bug).

Workflow? Really? The 4000 actually had an option where you could plug in a keyboard so you could name your tracks. So even an old MPC gave you the alternative. I had a 4000 and I always used the keyboard. I hated naming from the hardware. What fun is that? Instead, how about a quick list you could select for naming tracks. The list could include the common names like kick, snare, hihat, sample etc. That would even be better than naming from your keyboard and the hardware.

I think everyone has a workflow that works for them. I have a friend that's been using Pro Tools for years and at first he didn't know how to sync his external keyboard with Pro Tools to dump his tracks for mixing. He developed his workflow, he would hit record/start on pro tools and then start playback on his Roland keyboard and record 1 track at a time (all the way thru for each track) and then after every track is recorded into pro tools he would trim and align them and move them to the beginning in pro tools. After I started using pro tools (a couple of years later) I figured out how to sync it so I tried to teach him but he said nah my way is quicker for me. The point is everybody has their own workflow that works for them.

Makes sense. But in the case of naming from an MPC's pads, I don't really see how that can possibly be any faster than just using a keyboard, unless your keyboard is way across the room somewhere. And I actually memorized how to type on MPC pads and can do it pretty quickly, for what it is. But you have to keep in mind that some letters, you have to press a pad two or three times just to access, and the same goes for punctuation. With a keyboard you press a letter once and it's onto the next. So I don't really buy the whole "workflow" thing in this regard. As an experienced user of both methods, the desire to have the MPC method is just nostalgia of feeling like you're on a standalone unit. There's no actual real speed benefit to it no matter how fast you can tap the letters out. Not saying there's anything wrong with wanting this feature. I just don't buy the whole faster workflow part of it. It's more like a boutique feature to me. Maybe just my opinion! 8)
