NO MIDI RECORD!!

Recently purchased Cubase 8 to record vocals,while using my MPC Ren as a VST/Plug-in.. I've followed these steps http://www.akaipro.com/kb/article/1382 but when I hit my MPC pads ...NO record... any advice?

I found that if I connected my mpc studio as well as my ren.. the ren is fully fictional as a vst in cubase 8 pro...the studio displays mpc on the lcd screen but it does control the ren pads(only the pads) and midi can be recorded (16 levels ,chops, all) It's a bit much just to record midi..but it works...as long as midi has been around one would think this would be easier

Or mapping the mpk to control mpc works perfect!!!!

Thats cool but not cool at the same time. They need to fix that.
