MPC3000 - Worthy enough? VS 2500 VS Maschine Studio

The 3000 is like an oldtimer.

It's fun to have one, but it's not practical for daily stuff like going to work and doing groceries.

IMO 3k is cool to have as a legend, but the 2500 or 1000 jjxl is the real workhorse

Finally I cop a 2500SE with JJOSXL and I couldn't be happier

I went the path MPC2000XL --> MPC2500 & Maschine MKI --> Maschine Studio --> MPC1000 --> MPC2500SE

The 3000 was more like a nostalgic/culture/fan/curious kind of thing but after thinking and reading a lot, it wasn't worthy at all. I moved out of the box and make this combo:

MPC2500SE + Novation Bass Station 2 + Mininova + Korg D3200. The only downside is there are too many cables all around but I feel really happy about the decision

Honestly Dude it don't matter what you use.. In my opinion the hardware don't make the beats; you do. I went from 2KXL to 1000 to MPC Studio... If it was me I'd stay with the newer equipment like the MPC studio/Ren. You can pretty much get the same efx as the 3k.

The 3000 is an impractical old timer like a 2" tape machine or a nice analog console is.

It just depends what your priorities are. Just don't try one out if you don't want to buy one though!

Woah, that's exaggerating things a bit here. It's certainly not an "impractical old timer"...

I think you read the opposite of what I meant - analog tape and analog consoles are still used in the best studios around the world when sound is the most important thing (which should always be the case IMO).

sounds like you gotta go for the 4000.best of almost all worlds.best overall mpc out there easily and cheap too.just do it and be happy.

Nevertheless, I'm currently more into a 1000 for its size and capabilities. I really value audio tracks and resampling capabilities. My main goal is to stay away from the computer as much as I can and I want to avoid cluttering my workspace with another FX/resampling unit (Sp505 or similar) and a mixer. I also own a 3k and I'm loving it, It has everything I need but I also havent used anything newer than a 2kxl so I havent been spoiled with functionality. However as you've probably figured out you do kinda need a studio mixer to which you can send the 3ks outs to considering it doenst have any EQ in the box.

I have a outboard compressor, a sp303 and a Ensoniq Dp4 (multi-fx unit) so I do have a cluttered workplace. I record it into my computer and mix it there (nothing added tho).

I was like you once and wanted to get rid of the computer but after a while you realize that it just makes mixing so much more simple and effective.

Did I further confuse you or help you?

Thanks! Yes its a sp303 resampled into MPC3000, they complement eachother very nicely!
vinyl > sp303 > mpc > compressor > dp4 (fx-unit) > cubase is the chain for that tape (then to cassette and back into cubase again)

Got a new tape done ill be droppin in a few days, just getting the intro finished
