MPC 60 display 2015

Dear fellow Mpc60 users.
I recently acquired a used MPC60 (mk1) from Ebay. It was sold as is cheaply with a broken display (literally broken glass showing nothing, and backlight really dim).

Last week I got it home and took a look at it. As this was kind of a project to me, I also did some nice wood sides for it and cleaned the unit trough out. Anyway, as I turned it on, the state of the display was unreadable, almost no visual change when powered on, only a little bit of light from the backlight, but absolutely no text.
I found a used s3000XL and after reading these forums, and thought that I would be able to switch the display with that.
I tried, but failed; no change except a brighter screen, again, no text showing up. Important note; the unit turns on, buttons respond, floppy lights up and starts initializing (also if I press the record-button, it makes the little LED light up, so not a power issue or CPU issue as far as I'm concerned)
After this I was puzzled, and after some measurements I tried changing the resistors at r65 and r66 according to the service manual, and according to some history about the same issue with the resitor holding back on the contrast here at mpc-forums with the mk2 (r69 btw). Again, no result really, still only flickering display as I turn the contrast knop like before, and no visual text at all, only strange flinkering - display wokrs fine if I switch back to the s3000xl though. Backlight is fine though, no issue there, and the inverter from the s3000xl is quite compared to other one in the original mpc60.

So, 2 questions;

1) Where do you get a mpc60 displays these days - impossible??? Sequentex is not responding to my emails, seems like they dont want customers, so I am desperate!

2) In the case that I have overlooked something, are there any components to look out for? My inspection has been quite intense, and I have searched trough every forum on the internet. Every suggestion is welcome. I have taken out every ribbon cable and cleaned the unit through, so it's probably not there the issue is.

Try reaching out to Mister White at [email protected]. Matt is a good man who is passionate about keeping older gear illuminated. He surely has encountered this issue before, and hopefully he can get you pointed in the correct direction to solve this problem. Good luck.

I know that Beat Digger Jazzcat (he's on here, and has a page on facebook) can probably fix your screen, or has a replacement maybe. I'd try contacting him.

Yes, I have read trough out the link about the so called "bright future", that didn't turned out to se so bright when it came to buying it and getting responses. The problem is that sequetix doesn't answer it's potential customers. They probably have their reasons, but its unfortunate that they dont take responsibility for this issue. I have written a email to Beat Digger Jazzcatt, and hopefully something nice will come out of this. Would be so awesome getting this beautiful machine up and running again.
Trying my best to figure out if I can do anything on my own. I'm good at soldering but don't have a whole lot of knowledge when it comes to schematics and all that. If anybody knows any particular components to look out of, it would be much appreciated.
Would love hear from anyone who has solved this kind of issue.

well forget akaipro.. they wont help you... they didn't have anything to do with mpcs of that vintage.

keep us updated though, it's always nice to see what and how issues get solved.

Ok, update: Beat Digger Jazzcat has confirmed he can rebuild the display, so there's no other way around it than sending the unit to UK. Thanks for the responses guys!
