So I'm new to this beat battle thing...... Can I participate?

or just not use the "impeach the hypocrite" simply because its played out....

I was schooled under the standing that we sampled shit to sample. kinda what y'all are saying about sampling wutt ever.

but your artistic goal should be individuality.

That is the key factor with art.

Are you creating self art? Then again do you have self worth?..
are you going to take a sample and inspire off it. create something of self so that the argument of proprietary ownership is questioned. or are you biting.

the line is so blurred now days. heads don't really understand if they are contributing to the movement called hip hop or are they just killing it.

My belief system:..
Battles are what ever. This should be off the top skills. taking what you may know, and using the limited tools you are supplied to create something of worth. samples are what ever. crating an album and presenting it to the planet is completely different. This work of art should be of complete self. even sampling.

I follow the ideology of the founding fathers of this genre. Individuality!

i would never think to sample an album you or anyone has ever sampled or herd sampled>>>!! PERIOD. If i tumble upon a gem find a sample, freak the beat. Think its my best track ever. And then somebody comes and says "ohhh dude this sample was used on {lets say some new cat that just got a deal and its pushed radio}

i may present it, but with haste like "its cool and all but, ya know who already played by you know who"

don't get me wrong I'm aware its 2015 and we are finding it harder to find rarer samples even thought there is more worldwide music easier then ever to possess. You make a track not known it was used by pete rock. i get that. but when yo know its played what do you do/ contribute to the recycled scene or strive for originality?

Point of this rant is KNOW YOUR HISTORY! in all things.

It's down to basics, You sample, you bite, period, whether you like it or not and it isn't genre specific. Unless you played the drums and every other Instrument, made your own composition, then sampled that and chopped it, it is biting, your taking something from somewhere else, but that is the root of Hiphop, then make it your own.

What you decide to bite should not be moral based on the genre, I'm not going to sample from Hiphop as it's theft is really quite funny

Haha, finally logged back in and didn't realize sampling from hip hop was a touchy subject. I don't really mind where anybody else samples from as long as they flip it into their own sort of sound. The only thing I've done on sampling hip hop is an open drum sound here and there. I've heard blatant biting and beat stealing from some producers though...I think J Cole's sampling of the Electric Relaxation beat for one of his songs was a good example.

At the end of the day though, I'm not somebody that gets upset over it because there's so much stuff out there to listen too. No reason to focus on the things you hate when you can spend that time finding the stuff you enjoy.

You HAD to use something from the 3 samples.. and then anything else goes.

Ive probly unknowingly used someone elses drums from packs Ive collected over the years I just wouldnt choose to do it, Im not gonna here Slum Village/Eminem/Jehst/G-Unit etc latests song / unheard banger and think 'oh I can jack those drums' its just stupid imo **** it tho...do you fellas

I already had pages of this argument last year...dude giving away chopped ATCQ, Premo, Pete Rock, Dilla album tracks and promoting them as fresh new kits or whatever...thats where that sh*t leads people jacking the greats and diluting their hits

Heres mine shiiiiitbags...dont really like it, took 4 scrapped beats to get this

Hey Kap...I tried to add to the group yesterday but I never got a confirmation that it was added.. not sure if it has to go thru a gatekeeper first.....
