HELP!

I just tried to connect the Gotek Floppy Emulator into my S950
it didn't work... too bad... however

now I reconnected the original Floppy Drive...

Nothing is different... nothing has changed... it works perfectly..

except for one thing...

all the floppy disks I made have become unformatted, even their backup versions

none of them are readable anymore

I could make a new floppy, format it, save something to it.... then turn off the shit and reload it... works perfectly

but I need my other floppies to work or else I have just lost dozens of work, even though I carefully backed it up to other floppies

Does anyone know what has happened and/or what I can do about it???

If you have access to an older workstation, use omniflop and make disk images of those disks.

It'll be a way to tell if those disks are trully blank or if your s950's diskdrive is the problem.

Well I know for sure that my disks aren't blank
it were about 13 of them so far and they had been working just the day before...
and I actually made backups of all these floppy's about 2 days ago which also worked perfectly fine,

until yesterday when I tried installing the Gotek and reverted back to the disk drive
all floppy's worked fine...

which would mean that in 1 instant 26 floppies became blank.

I surely am going to try omniflop (tomorrow) although I doubt it will work..

The Floppy drive is not completely broken though because I can still make save and load new floppy disk with programs and samples..

it just that it won't read the older ones.... they remain unformatted

I wish I had more ideas to share. I just think something is up with the head on the disk drive.

It makes no sense that you'd be able to format a disk and have it work, I doubt you changed any dip pins on the drive either. Make omniflop images of your disks.

If anyone can chime in here, can't omniflop images also be read on the gotek?

Hey

well thanks a lot for your help anyway... I don't know what you mean with '' the head on the disk drive'' ..

I've been trying today....

I actually got the Gotek to work, but I need to properly format a USB stick for it

I does however recognize the drive and the stick claiming it's unformatted instead of not mounted.
(So for all people wondering, yes the gotek probably works (plug and play) with the Akai S950)

After that I retried the Floppy Drive again... still nothing changed..

I hope it's fixable... I haven't got time to use Omniflop yet (don't have a pc with a motherboard connection for normal floppy drives and omniflop doesn't work with external/usb drives)

I'll update a.s.a.p.
