Triggering SP12 with MPC 3000

hi all, quick question for you - I can't seem to get the SP12 drum pads to trigger at full velocity, by hitting the pads on the MPC - I have the MPC 'full level' switch on, but when turning off dynamic buttons on the SP12, hitting the pads on the SP gives a much louder sound, than the MPC buttons - is there a setting I should change perhaps?

the only current way round it I can see is to use the MPC to trigger the SP sequencer, then I can get the nice loud hits (keeping the noise floor low)
