I'm not in need of research. People on the forum are saying the sound would be terrible with no pre-amp. As I mentioned, I also had it hooked up to the 1k going directly into it, grounded it to a screw and it sounded fine. No Pre Amp. Then another person said you couldn't do it with the ren either. Theoretically I'm not asking for an answer to a problem that needs research, I'm just asking people's thoughts & opinions. Did you know the MPC Ren also features dual balanced XLR combo inputs with phantom power?

Ren has a phono input which converts(boosts) the phono signal up to a line level signal.

the MPC1000 has line level inputs
Image
You either had a turntable with line outs, or you were just boosting the crap out of the phono signal, which raises the noise floor and loses alot of the low frequency in the signal.

All I did was use adapters and grounded it directly to the 1k. I didn't lose any frequencies nor had the ins all the way up. raised. IDK. :popcorn:

Unless you had a modified Technics 1200 with a phono preamp built in, you did lose alot of frequencies. :nod:

Well ok, you apparently had a special 1000 with a hidden phono-preamp. :wink: :roll: :mrgreen:

No. No hidden amp in the 1000. Like Wal Martian said, the technic might have a pre amp built in. It would be the only explanaition. Don't be a purple headed yogurt slinger. :lol: :mrgreen:
