I really enjoy using Recycle, even though it's kind of buggy. The mere fact I can do all my chopping and send, and it'll auto create a program is worth it's weight in gold.

i have an old win98 laptop with recycle, wavelab and samplevison.
they all have their place.

recycle cut things up, wavelab has good effects and samplevision is great for looping instrument samples. plus it works with my ensoniq mirage.
unfortunatly it's all via midi, which is slow as hell.

i quite like having the win98 laptop becuase it dosent have internet access, so i don't get distracted.

there a load of modern software that will LOAD akai samples, but very few things that export to old akai formats.

^i heard that too... they were supposed to have an MV program.. but people were saying some shit like they weren't delivering or something bad and mv nation was in an uproar about it.

that aside, i dont bother with these PC software things to then dump it onto an old sampler... if i am on a PC... i might as well take advantage of being on a PC and use software to make the song.

I don't have much to use with my Akai S20, but I do like to include my Electrix MoFx boost/distortion/tremolo/flange/delay effects, and my SP 505. Most of my gear is in the pawn shop, but I can now slowly get it out.

Techno Sound Turbo II and Octamed

I use it with my new EPS-16+ tho, not my old Akai

I know this is software to use with Akai stuff but you mention intrest outside of poll, I thought I might really spice it up.

A lot of great stuff outside the beaten path. But mixing samplers n that with computers can really be dope.

(dont have time for my awesome text colors! my appologies to those whom I've disapointed so deeply)

The version I use, 2.9 which is an earlier build likes to freeze on me a lot when doing SCSI related stuff. The only thing I have found that sort of minimizes the amount of crashes is if I use Awave to batch convert all of my samples first, and then drag and drop them over to one of the akai partitions.

By the way, for your S1000, you can do SCSI transfer with Recycle, just add the sampler as a S3000XL and it'll still go through just fine.

I believe Jon Phonics had put some stuff up on YouTube with his Amiga and that Turbo Sound cartridge, fun stuff that people do. Now if only I prioritized time to get a C64 and play with some sid thuggery, that would make me happy.

for those using recycle:
Shuriken beat slicer.
although it dosent work with old akai samplers yet this is a great bit of software:
linux only and you have to compile from source, so for linux nerds only at the moment. but it's currently in active development and already exports wavs, soundfonts and akai mpc 500/1000/2500 .pgms
i'm working on gently persuading the dev to add support for other Akai samplers, he seems like a nice guy and he already added MPC .pgm support from the specs(he dosen't actualy have an MPC!)

https://github.com/rock-hopper/shuriken

i'm following development at linuxmusicians.
http://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php ... 0ccac0a61b

much nicer than recycle by a long way.

the s20 uses S1000 disks so you can use akaidisk and maybe chickensys.
the S20 also kinda supports midi sample dump, people report mixed success(recycle probably dosen't work). i'd give it a try with an old version of wavelab. its very similar to the S01.

i'm pretty sure that's just for importing sample cds.

this is the crap thing about commercial software, its here today and gone tomorrow, features can just disappear in a puff of smoke.

much better using 10 year old software that you know is broken!

Thanks! I never knew that! My S20 sometimes wants to format 3.5 floppies. But if I buy them in bulk, most of the time it might give me a error message when it comes to 1-3 of them. :Sigh: . Kinda disappointing to have a few floppies that will just end up in the trash!

Where would I find a old version of wavelab, and what is chickensys? I'm afraid I have never heard of it! :hmmm:
